Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU), took another step in its continuous pursuit of academic excellence as the Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, officially received an Accreditation Team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The team's visit, which took place at the Vice Chancellor's office, was for the crucial evaluation of the university's Nigerian Languages Programme.
Accreditation exercises are a standard and mandatory practice by the NUC, designed to ensure that all academic programmes offered by Nigerian universities meet the national benchmarks for quality and relevance. This review directly aligns with SAZUโs commitment to providing high-quality education and promoting continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and research.
Leading the visiting team, Dr. Hadiza Musa explained that their assignment was specifically designed to assess the departmentโs facilities, curriculum, staffing, and overall academic standards.
"This review will help determine compliance with the Commissionโs requirements and ensure that the Nigerian Languages Programme continues to meet the highest standards expected of a Nigerian university," Dr. Musa stated.
Professor Tahir expressed sincere appreciation to the NUC team for their visit, firmly reaffirming the universityโs readiness and transparency throughout the entire process.
The Vice Chancellor noted that SAZU remains dedicated to strengthening its academic programmes and maintaining strict quality assurance across all departments.
