*Subject: Report on Humanitarian Support to Amanawa Community*

Date: 2nd October, 2023.

The Executives of the Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological Students Association, Federal University Birnin Kebbi chapter, led by the Staff Adviser, Mallam Ibrahim S. Ibrahim, carried out a humanitarian support initiative to Amanawa community. The visit aimed to fulfill our objectives as sociologists by addressing societal needs and fostering community development.
Prior to the visit, a needs assessment was conducted to identify the specific needs of the community, focusing on health, and basic necessities.

During our welfare visit to Amanawa community, we observed that the residents were grappling with various health challenges, notably leprosy and related skin conditions. Recognizing the importance of basic hygiene in preventing the spread of diseases, the Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological Students Association (NSASA) provided essential supplies like soap and Vaseline to the community members. This aid was aimed at promoting proper hygiene practices, preventing the deterioration of health conditions, and enhancing the overall well-being of the individuals affected. The provision of these items sought to empower the community to maintain good hygiene standards and present a healthier appearance, marking a step towards improved health outcomes for the residents.

The welfare visit to Amanawa community successfully achieved its objectives, demonstrating the practical application of sociological principles. It provided invaluable hands-on experience on us and left a positive impact on the community. This initiative strengthened our commitment to serving communities and fostering positive social change through our discipline. We look forward to organizing more such initiatives in the future to enhance societal well-being.
As sociologists, we are always determined to engage in Social Welfare.

*FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT*

Aluta greetings!

It is with utmost humility that I welcome both fresh and returning students into the Department of Sociology, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, 2020/2021 academic session respectively. It is indeed a great honour to captain the ship of great intellectuals like you all.

To the newly admitted students, indeed you all have made a fantabulous choice by choosing to study sociology in this prestigious university filled with reservoirs of knowledge. The journey has just began and I believe this is the best time to buckle up and make deliberate plans towards your goals. Therefore, I employ you all to deflect from activities that will discommode your academic pursuits.

To the returning students, I encourage you all to strive harder than before, and also take advantage of your familiarity with the system to strengthen your moves. Hard work, though might seems bitter at first, bears sweet fruits if utilized in a smart way. It is not too late to achieve better results, irrespective of your level or current academic standing. It is not over, untill it is over; the struggle continues!

In the same vein, I encourage all sociology students across all levels to be promoters of harmonious coexistence, cooperation and solidarity. We are not in a competition, rather we are in a struggle to better our lives; first class or second class upper is not for one person. Therefore, we should try as much as we can to carry each other along in every legitimate way possible. let's promote the spirit of "one for all; all for one".

As an association with a brobdingnagian interest of the students in mind, NSASA, FUBK chapter has made adequate provisions to stimulate the wheels of our academic pursuits and to also make sure that we enjoy exquisite social activities. Always remember, " you are not alone, we are with you, because we are a family". Hence, we some much desire your sual cooperation and support in everything that concerns the association.

I wish you all an unruffled academic session.

*Amiru Adamu*
