IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE DEAN'S OFFICE!!!
The Department of Geography at the University of Florida currently has multiple funded graduate student opportunities available for Spring or Fall 2022. We are a dynamic and growing program with 25 faculty and is nationally ranked in the top 10 of Geography departments by Academic Analytics. We currently have funding opportunities available to work on funded research projects under certain faculty, which are highlighted below. These are in addition to our regular teaching assistantships and university fellowships. Applications are due on December 1. Students are encouraged to contact advisors directly. Dr. Willie Wright seeks graduate students interested in geographies of race, black geographies, and social theory at the PhD level beginning in Fall 2022.
Dr. Esther Mullens is seeking a PhD student for a Fall 2022 start, for the NSF-Funded project that will apply high-resolution regional climate models and/or new model output to examine mixed-phase winter storms in a warmer climate.
Dr. Johanna Engström welcomes applications from students interested in pursuing a graduate degree at the Master/PhD level on the topics of large-scale climate variability, water resources, GIS, and/or climate services for renewable energy production and development.
Dr. David Keellings seeks graduate students interested in climatology and extreme weather at the MS and PhD level beginning in Fall 2022.
Dr. Berry Wen seeks graduate students interested in remote sensing, hydrometeorology, and AI at the MS and PhD level beginning in Fall 2022.
The Department of Geography is also actively recruiting graduate students with funded teaching assistantships beginning Spring 2022 (January 2022). Applicants must identify a potential point of contact/graduate adviser ahead of applying and clearly describe the possible connection in the statement of purpose drafted as part of the packet.
