As a forum, we’re so excited to announce the success of our outreach program, organized about three weeks ago.

The program, tagged "Health Boost", was a health outreach, which meticulously planned and passionately executed by our president Destiny Chioma and dedicated team which had a significant impact on the well-being of female students residing in the various hostels within the University of Calabar (UNICAL) from March 29th to April 12th.

🎯 Recognizing the unique health challenges and needs of this student demographic, the two-week initiative was tailored towards bridging the gaps in access to essential health information, preventative care, and necessary resources directly within their living environment.

🎯 We were able to also conduct basic health screenings including blood pressure checks, HIV test, and Tuberculosis screening.
Further interactive and informative awareness sessions were organized on key health topics such as menstrual hygiene management, oral health, tuberculosis, HIV awareness and prevention of common infections.

💫 These sessions fostered open discussions and provided a safe space for students to ask questions and gain valuable insights.

📌 In addition to all of the above, we also facilitated the distribution of routine drugs, toiletries and Sanitary Pads to empower students to take proactive steps towards maintaining their health and hygiene.

The initiative not only addressed immediate health concerns but also aimed to cultivate a culture of health consciousness and proactive self-care within the UNICAL female hostel community. The outreach represents a significant step towards fostering a healthier and more empowered student population.

The outreach also served as an opportunity to connect students with relevant on-campus health services ensuring they are aware of the support systems available to them.

We’re so grateful for the success of the outreach, and we sincerely thank God and all our partners and sponsors who supported us in making this impact possible—we received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the massive turnout of participants. ❤️

When I look back, all I see is God's Faithfulness, His compassionate Mercy and His loving kindness.
I don't deserve it all but you raised me up whenever I fall and tell me; "daughter, keep moving because you're almost at the finishing line". I can't thank you enough for all you've done for me.
Chimamanda meaning "My God will never fail" and God you've never failed me, not for once.
You gave me a second chance to life and I made a promise to impact to my world, all I ask this morning Father is your Grace to do all you've sent me to do. I know I can do all things through You that gives me strength, Thank you for being you. If it were to be a man, I will really pay🥰💗😘😘😘🙏🙏🙏.

A CALL TO ALL PARENTS!!!

My daughter is six years old and is in grade one. We live about a kilometer away from school so everyday okada man whom we are familiar with takes her to school and returns her home in the afternoon because both my husband and I are working and we leave home early, just after she goes to school.
One day when I was at work I received a call from her class teacher requesting me to avail myself there as soon as was possible.

“What happened to Angel?” I questioned anxiously.

“Nothing to panic about, just make sure you come before we break up for the day.”
Of course I panicked. This had to do with my daughter and I was worried sick about her. I immediately excused myself from work and hurriedly took the first transport available. I burst into the classroom panting and sweating.

“Mama Angel,” The teacher started. “We will talk about this privately.” She led the way to an empty office and I followed meekly.
“Do you see your child off when she comes to school?” Was her first question.
I didn’t know where this was leading to, so I just replied with a short “Yes.”

“What time does she leave home?”
“She gets picked up a bit early because I have to rush to work. So around 7:00 to 7:15 a.m.
“How does she behave then?”
“She behaves normally.”

“I want you to brace yourself with what I’m about to tell you.

Are you ready?”

Did I really have a choice? I just nodded.

“Angel arrives here around 8:30 every day,” she started calmly. “For some time, she has been coming to school in tears every morning. First I thought it was because she didn’t want to come to school. Several times I asked her what the matter was but she didn’t give me a reply. Today when she arrived she was crying as usual so I took her aside, gave her some sweets and promised her some more tomorrow.

Then I asked her in a very friendly tone why she cries every day and the answer shocked me.”
She took a breath while looking at me and the anxiety almost killed me.

“Mama Angel,” she continued with caution. “The okada man has been ra**ng your daughter every morning for some time now.”

“What!” I almost fainted. I surely would have fallen down if I had been standing. For God’s sake, Angel was only six! How heartless can some men be?
“Every day after picking her and before coming here, he would take Angel to his house, r**e her and threaten to kill her if she ever tried to tell anyone. Then he’d bring her to school.”

I felt dizzy. Why? Why my little Angel? I was sweating. My whole body was shaking.
“Should I call your husband?”
“No!” I shouted. He might do anything.

Patience was something alien to him. I had to find a way of breaking the news to him. After a while, I decided to call his sister. Together we could try to talk to him.

The news shattered my husband. He cried uncontrollably. Then he got so furious that he swore he would strangle him, but we told him not to take matters into his own hands and just leave the law to do its work. We reported the matter to the police. We gave them the details of the boda boda man. They caught and took him in. We took Angel to the hospital after getting a p3 form from the police.

He was found guilty of ra**ng our little girl a multiple number of times and was sentenced to a twenty year jail term.

👉Absolutely no one should be trusted with our girls. Take time to drop your kids to school, be friendly with them, teach them to be polite but never to trust strangers, ask them about their day and always make them trust you enough to open up in case of any unusual incident.

*Don't Get Loss In The Sauce!*

Do you ever feel like the world is just out for you sometimes? Nothing seems to be going right and everything that you think could possibly go wrong is doing just that?

My Dear, you can't control what happens to you but you can control how you react to it. Life is filled with ups and downs, but what journey isn't?

Don't let the bad ride make you miss out on the fulfilling experience cause "you're right where you need to be." We hear this oh-so-common saying so much and I know when life has knocked you down a lot, it is hard to believe.

Don't let that overbearing boss or gloomy day get the best of you. The best stories to tell were once the hardest experiences to overcome, So Don't Get Lost In This Sauce Called LIFE. You are doing the best you can with what you have, and it's all gonna work out. Okuuurrrr!

Have a great week ahead and remember, you can't rush the process dearie; it's a bad day, not a bad life.

It was a huge success yesterday🤩🤩😘😘, Female Leadership Forum University of Calabar organized one of the best and massive health outreach in the hostels. Thanks to Med Lab Scientists (My Colleagues) and FHI360 mobile team. To Maxi Care that gave us some drugs, thank you and to all who participated in the tests, thank you. A lot of Malabresses were happy for today, we carried out Malaria, Typhoid, Blood Group, HIV/AIDS tests today in the hostels. Get ready for another wonderful event today by 3:00pm at Unical Conference Center. It's a Relationship talk💝💖💓💞👩‍❤️‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨 So, Dress As A Bae👗👠💄 and Come With A Boo👕🩳👟 ❤️

In a century where hatred, heartbreaks and chaos seems to be prevailing, practicing self-love can be very challenging. In fact, our society has underrated self-love to a point where some individuals consider self-love an act of selfishness and narcissism.

Even the Bible says; *work out your salvation* with fear and trembling, it didn't say, sit at a place and your salvation will come.
