r 12, 1967. The African University Day aims to present a unique platform to promote critical dialogue among stakeholders on how to improve Higher Education in Africa. The African University Day Celebrations have become a premier event on the calendar of AAU and this day has been celebrated by HEIs since 2000. The Association of African Universities (AAU) is the apex organisation and forum for consultation, exchange of information and co-operation among institutions of Higher Education in Africa. AAU represents the voice of Higher Education in Africa and supports networking by African institutions of Higher Education. The AAU is based in Accra and has a current membership of over 360 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
