*Subject: Urgent Appeal for Rehabilitation of Government Technical College, Danbatta*

I write to humbly draw your attention to the current dilapidated state of *Government Technical College, Danbatta*. Since its commissioning in **2011** by then Commissioner of Education, *Barr. Faruk Iya Sambo, under the administration of Engr. Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso*, critical infrastructure—particularly *hostels, classrooms, kitchen, and dining halls*—have remained in *temporary and deteriorating conditions*.

The college consists of *four hostels* named after prominent leaders: *Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Mukhtar Adnan, Faruk Iya, and Aminu Kano*. These hostels are in dire condition and no longer offer safe or conducive accommodation for students.

On *11th July 2023*, during your current administration, the then Commissioner of Education, *Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa*, visited the college and acknowledged the state of decay, assuring the school community that urgent interventions would follow. Sadly, almost a year later, *no tangible progress* has been made.

With the *rainy season approaching*, the risk to students' safety and academic welfare is growing rapidly. We respectfully appeal for your *swift intervention* to address these long-standing issues and restore a safe, stable learning environment for our future engineers and technicians.

The meeting held on Saturday 3rd May 2025 by old students association, Dambatta Tachnical Old Boys Association (DANTOBA) classes from 2014 to date.

THE PURPOSE OF THE MEETING
The purpose of the meeting is to call upon the attention of the Kano State Government, Kano State Ministry of Education, Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board (KSSTSB) and any one responsible in:
1. Renovate and equip the hostels
2. To renovate and equip the classrooms
3. To provide the school with necessary facilities

THE COLLEGE AT 2011
In the year 2011, the school was promoted from Vocational Training Centre to a fully operating Technical College and been Commissioned by the former Commissioner of Education, Barrister Faruq Iyya.

THE DEPARTMENTS AND PROGRAMS
The school has been running three Departments.
1. Carpentry and Joinery department, 2. Building development and
3. Electrical/Metal work department
All the departments have been provided with all basic equipments/implements like portable/hand tools and machinery, devices etc— needed to run the activities of practical, teaching and learning exercise.

3. Language laboratory
4. Staff quarter
5. Library
6. Laboratories
7. Technical drawing studio
8. Computer laboratory
9. Student hostels

THE FACILITIES
Government Technical College Dambatta was then having its fully functioning English language laboratory that can accumulate fifty students, Chemistry laboratory, Physics laboratory, Technical drawing studio, library, Games and sports, power generator, one new school bus (Helox), well ventilated students resting centre, laundry . All the mentioned are well provided with all they need to be operated —The chemical reagents, devices, tools, equipment, books, sporting facilities etc.
