PRESS STATEMENT

RE: FALSE PUBLICATION ALLEGING ADMISSION OF LAW STUDENTS

The Management of Coal City University, Enugu, wishes to draw the attention of the public to a publication “Panic As Coal City University Allegedly Admits Law Students.”

The University categorically states that the publication is false and misleading.

For the avoidance of doubt, Coal City University has not established a Faculty of Law and does not run a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme. Consequently, the University has not admitted any students into a Law programme.

At no time did the publication seek clarification from the University before publishing the story.

The University therefore urges members of the public to disregard the publication in its entirety, as it does not reflect the true position of the institution.

Coal City University remains committed to strict compliance with the regulations of the National Universities Commission and to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and excellence.

The Management of Coal City University, Enugu, wishes to formally address and correct a publication, which alleged that the University admitted students into a Law programme beyond the quota approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The University states clearly and unequivocally that Coal City University has not established a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme and therefore has not admitted any Law students. The claim contained in the publication is false, misleading, and without any factual basis.

Members of the public, parents, prospective students, and stakeholders are kindly advised to disregard the report, as it does not reflect the true position of the University.

The University also calls on media organisations to exercise due diligence and verify information from competent authorities before publication, in order to prevent the dissemination of misinformation capable of misleading the public and damaging institutional reputations.

Coal City University remains committed to full compliance with NUC regulations and to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and academic excellence.

Coal City University recorded yet another memorable moment as Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika, (Rtd), former Chief of Army Staff of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, paid a courtesy visit to the institution in an atmosphere marked by warmth, respect and convivial engagement.

Lieutenant General Ihejirika is widely regarded as a distinguished patriot and an accomplished military officer who devoted many years of meritorious service to the Nigerian nation. He holds the historic distinction of being the first military officer of South-East extraction to serve as Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff.

Throughout his illustrious career, his discipline, professionalism and unwavering commitment to national security earned him immense respect and admiration across Nigeria.

On Friday, the 13th of March, 2026, the highly respected retired General visited Coal City University where he was warmly received by the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor, members of the University’s management team and other staff of the institution.

The policies strengthen our examination governance framework including pre-examination controls, examination conduct procedures, grading transparency, documentation standards and accountability mechanisms. The University maintains zero tolerance for examination Ma!practice or any conduct that compromises academic integrity.
