ASUU-FUGA Sensitises Members on NUPEMCO Recapitalisation

‎The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University Gashua (FUGA) Branch, has organised a special engagement session to sensitise its members on the ongoing recapitalisation of the Nigerian University Pension Management Company (NUPEMCO).
‎
‎The programme, held at the University’s 284-capacity Lecture Theatre, brought together members of the union to deepen their understanding of the recapitalisation process and its implications for their retirement savings and long-term financial security.
‎
‎Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the ASUU-FUGA Branch, Comrade Dr. Ali Bulama, explained that the session was designed to equip congress members with adequate information on the recapitalisation exercise, thereby enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their pension investments and future welfare.
‎
‎He noted that pension matters remain a critical concern for university staff and emphasised the importance of keeping members well-informed on developments affecting their retirement benefits.

NEAZDP Donates 1,000 Seedlings to FUGA to Mark World Environment Day

‎The North-East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) has donated 1,000 tree seedlings to the Federal University Gashua (FUGA) Yobe State, as part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day celebration.
‎
‎The seedlings were presented to the university during a courtesy visit by officials of the programme led by its Programme Manager, Dr Mulima Idi Mato, to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, at the university's main campus in Gashua.

‎VC Reaffirms FUGA’s Drive to Produce Environmentally Conscious Graduates
‎
‎The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Gashua (FUGA), Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing environmentally conscious graduates through its Green Code Initiative.
‎
‎Professor Geidam made this known while receiving officials of the North-East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) during a courtesy visit to his office on Friday, June 5, 2026. The visit formed part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day celebration.
‎
‎The Vice-Chancellor explained that a central component of the initiative is a policy requiring every student to plant and nurture at least one tree before graduation. He noted that the programme is designed to instill a culture of environmental responsibility among students while encouraging their active participation in conservation efforts.

It is with deep sorrow that we received the sad news of the passing of one of our colleagues from the Geography Department, 200 Level, Muhammad Idris Danga.

On behalf of fellow students, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Geography Department, his friends, and especially his family during this painful time.

May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and give his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss.

Indeed, this is a painful loss 😭🕊️

Rest in peace, Muhammad Idris Danga.
