GOMBE STATE UNIVERSITY HOSTS MAIDEN EID AL-ADHA PRAYER ON CAMPUS

In the spirit of Eid al-Adha and gratitude to Almighty Allah, Gombe State University has once again recorded a remarkable milestone with the successful conduct of its first-ever Eid prayer on campus, a historic gathering that united members of the university community in worship, reflection, peace, and brotherhood.

The historic congregational Eid prayer was led by the Chief Imam of the Gombe State University Central Masjid, Professor Dahiru Inuwa Ibrahim, with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, and other distinguished members of the university management present.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Rasheed Abdulganiy; Director, Institute of Education, Professor Muhammed Gurama Dukku; President of the Gombe State University Muslim Ummah, Professor Usman Bala; as well as professors, staff, students, and members of the wider university community.

The maiden Eid prayer on campus marked a significant chapter in the history of the university, reflecting Gombe State University’s enduring commitment to spiritual growth, moral excellence, peaceful coexistence, and community engagement. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude, unity, and the sacred spirit of Eid, as worshippers gathered to glorify Allah and celebrate the values of sacrifice, compassion, and togetherness which define Eid al-Adha.

Speaking after the prayer, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the university community the opportunity to witness and participate in the memorable occasion. He commended members of the university community for their unity, discipline, and collective support in ensuring the success of the historic maiden Eid prayer. He further prayed for continued peace, progress, and divine blessings upon Gombe State University, Gombe State, and Nigeria at large.

The successful hosting of the Eid prayer further demonstrates the spirit of harmony, mutual respect, and Islamic values that continue to strengthen Gombe State University.

GSU FACULTY OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES HOLDS 7TH INDUCTION AND OATH-TAKING CEREMONY

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gombe State University, on Thursday, 21st May, 2026, successfully held its 7th Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony for the 2024/2025 graduating Pharmacy students at the Haruna Kadir Rashid Hall, Gombe State University.

The ceremony marked another significant milestone in the history of the University as the graduating students were formally inducted into the pharmacy profession under the supervision of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN).

The event attracted members of the University Management, principal officers, deans, directors, academic staff, representatives of professional bodies, parents, well-wishers, and distinguished guests from within and outside the state.

In his welcome address, the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Abdulwahab Aliyu, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their continuous support towards the growth and development of the Faculty.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, congratulated the graduating students on the successful completion of their academic and professional training. He urged the newly inducted pharmacists to uphold professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards in service to humanity and the healthcare sector.

The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the professional oath by the Registrar of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, Pharm. Ibrahim Baba Shehu Ahmad, represented by the Zonal Officer, Pharm. Gwa Emmanuel, who formally inducted the graduates into the pharmacy profession.

The event also featured the presentation of awards and certificates to outstanding graduating students in recognition of their academic excellence and exceptional performance. Pharmacist Bello Aisha Ali emerged as the overall best graduating student and was specially recognised for recording the best graduating result since the establishment of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gombe State University.

The event concluded with goodwill messages, group photographs, and celebrations by family members, friends, and well-wishers in honour of the newly inducted pharmacists.

GSU MATRICULATES PIONEER STUDENTS OF FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE, MALAM SIDI CAMPUS

Gombe State University today matriculated the pioneer students of its newly established Faculty of Agriculture, Malam Sidi Campus, during a historic ceremony that also featured an orientation programme for the newly admitted students.

The event commenced with the formal declaration of the 2025/2026 Matriculation Exercise open by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, after which the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto, administered the matriculation oath to the students.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor informed the gathering that the establishment of the Faculty of Agriculture was inspired by the visionary leadership and commitment of the Visitor to the University and Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (CON), towards addressing agricultural challenges and advancing food security in the state and beyond.
He explained that the Faculty was established primarily in collaboration with Michigan State University, with the aim of building a land-grant style Faculty of Agriculture that would serve as a centre for innovation, research, training, and community transformation.
The Vice-Chancellor further disclosed that a total of eighty-five pioneer students were matriculated into various programmes of the Faculty, comprising 47.1% male and 52.9% female students, reflecting the inclusivity and gender balance for which the University is known. He also revealed that the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Michigan State University have already commenced support for the Faculty through technical partnerships, training opportunities, and provision of equipment.

The orientation programme featured presentations on the University’s code of conduct, interfaith relationships, use of the library, proper handling of University facilities and equipment, as well as sensitisation on the University’s sexual harassment policy.
Representing the Governor at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Idris Yambiu Buba (MNI), reaffirmed the State Government’s strong commitment and support towards the growth and development of the University. He also congratulated the people of Malam Sidi on the establishment of the campus.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the donation of over ten hectares of land to the University by Ambassador Yarima Ibrahim Abdullahi, Sarkin Bai of Gombe, who attended the event as a special guest.

The ceremony attracted principal officers of the University, government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, staff, students, parents, and well-wishers.
