THE SUN HAS OPENED A GIANT HOLE — 400,000 MILES ACROSS ☀️

Within just two days, an enormous Earth-facing coronal hole near the Sun’s equator rapidly expanded, forming a vast magnetic corridor that now stretches across a large portion of the solar surface.

This dark region isn’t truly empty — it marks a place where the Sun’s magnetic field opens outward into space. Through these open, streams of high-speed solar wind escape more freely, racing across the Solar System. As the Sun turns, that stream can become directed straight toward Earth.

When these fast solar winds arrive, they can disturb our planet’s magnetic field, intensify auroras, and briefly alter space weather conditions. Events like this are closely watched, because they remind us that our star is not calm and constant — it is active, dynamic, and capable of influencing space around Earth even from 150 million kilometers away. 🌎

🌞 Annular Solar Eclipse – February 17, 2026

Today, the Moon will pass directly between Earth and the Sun, creating a beautiful annular solar eclipse — often called the “Ring of Fire.”

This happens because the Moon will be slightly farther from Earth than usual. As a result, it appears a bit smaller in the sky and cannot completely cover the Sun’s disk. Instead of total darkness, a bright ring of sunlight remains visible around the Moon’s silhouette.

The “Ring of Fire” will be visible along a narrow path that crosses parts of Antarctica and the far southern regions of South America (southern Chile and Argentina). A partial eclipse will be visible across wider areas of the southern Atlantic and parts of Africa.

The moment of greatest eclipse will occur at approximately 15:00 UTC.

⚠️ Important reminder: Never look directly at the Sun during an eclipse without proper solar viewing glasses or certified filters. Even when most of the Sun is covered, direct viewing can cause serious and permanent eye damage.
