Becoming Unilorin student.
Episode 4
I began to spend lavishly to celebrate the day, I believed I won't score anything less than 90/100 I was happy as I left for home. English tests can be stupid and tricky. The reason why most students fail it is that,
“they think they can speak fluently.”
But ‘English tests’ most often and especially for unilorin it's obviously not on how fluent you can be.” but they want to test you on rules and twist your brain, they want to know how smart/intelligent you are.
The problem hanging around “English questions” is, they appeared simple at first sight, you'll be attending to the questions and be laughing due to how soft they are, but when you are done and get to see the result, boom, then, reality will dawn on you and you'll realize you've just done rubbish.”
In the evening when the result was out, unfortunately, I was below the average cut off, I scored 38/100. I wasn't surprised actually I knew the magic with ‘English exams’ I was hurt tho, as i said, “Well played, unilorin.”
At this point, i was already losing the interest in continuity with my Arabic education, all my friends were already in the higher institution. I felt ashamed, I was ready to quit Madrasah for school.
Fast forward to the following year.
Another JAMB's registration came, that was my 2nd year of taking the Jamb's form. As usual, i registered “English” as my desired course.
At that moment in time, I was thinking that if I could do excellently well in the previous Utme's exam without an adequate preparation, definitely, I can do better by studying jamb recommended textbooks. So, I started studying and attended some tutorials, reading so hard for the upcoming exams.
Slowly, I have just began to prepare for the JAMB's utme exam, when another information came right from my Madrasah (Ilekewu) which says,
“you would start your 3rd term examination 7days now.” and that was just undoubtedly the day i would be having my JAMB's exam.
