UNIVERSITY DON COMMENDS LIBRARIANS' INNOVATIVE STRIDE, HOSTS CONFERENCE
The Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN has commended the innovative Stride of Librarians, who he described as professionals in effective management of institutional and academic knowledge value of all time.
He noted this when the Kwara State executive of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) paid a courtesy call on him ahead of the 49th Conference/AGM held at the University Auditorium, University of Ilorin on December 5, 2024.
While welcoming the team of Librarians on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Professors Olubunmi Abayomi Omotosho was elated at the choice of the 'Better By Far' University for the historic event that focus on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Library Services. He reinstated the assurance of the University's renewed commitment to supporting the information and knowledge management which is the core of University Library and the Association by extension.
In her response, the State Chairman of the Association and Deputy University Librarian, Kwara State University, Malete, Dr. (Mrs) Florence Olabisi Ajani appreciated the goodwill extended to the Association by the University management through the University Library and requested for continued collaboration in knowledge sharing.
The event was witnessed by the Vice Chairman, Dr. (Mrs) Suebat Ajoke Busari CLN; Fnancial Secretary, Joel Afolayan CLN; Deputy Rector, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr (Mrs) Mulikat Bola Aliyu CLN; and the Keynote Speaker and University Librarian, Redeemers' University, Nigeria, Dr. Akinniyi Adeleke CLN.
Others there present are the Deputy Voice Chancellor, Research, Technology and Innovation, Professor Adegboyega Adisa Fawole; Deputy Registrar, Dr. Ajao Adelodun Mohammed; Representatives of the Bursar and University Librarian, Mr. Ayanda Samuel and Mrs. Grace O. Babafemi CLN; and the former University Librarian, Professor Abdulwahab Olanrewaju Issa CLN.
