FRESH! FRESH!! FRESH!!!
Welcome to College of health science..UITH.. Two years ago, I sat in the same seats you are in today and listened to the former HOD of the department, welcome us. And to tell you the truth I don’t remember a word he said.
But I do remember that in spite of my nerves, I knew I had made the right choice, I knew my decision to attend University of ilorin would change my life.
Was my college experience here perfect? Of course not. I knew no one at COHS—I came from a small town in Ogun State—and for the first few months, I felt that I just didn’t fit in. But, my classes were really interesting, my lecturers challenged me in ways I had not been challenged before, I made great new friends, and my homesickness soon faded as I found my niche at COHS. Before I knew it, I was immersed in my new life at COHS.
To the Class of 2017, I now officially welcome you to COHS. My name is Awosanya tobi daniel, and I have the pleasure of being your president. Please call me Tobi or Tobi Daniels, whichever you are comfortable with.
As you are starting to learn about one another, you all come to us from very interesting backgrounds. You are all accomplished, smart, and capable. In short, you are positioned very well to take advantage of the empowerment of the COHS Experience.
As a new student at COHS, you are bound to have questions. New Student Orientation is designed around you, helping to uncover the answers to the questions you have, and providing you information about campus resources, programs and services. By the time you leave orientation, you’ll be on your way to becoming a successful COHS student.
As you meet with your advisors, select the courses you will take this session, and begin this journey that will stretch your mind and shape who you will become, I encourage you to go forth in a spirit of exploration. This is your chance to make the rich variety of COHS intellectual opportunities matter to you and your life, So start now. Push yourself beyond what’s familiar. It should be scary, and thrilling: that’s what education is. Education: from the Latin e ducare—to lead out.
I encourage you to participate in student activities: run for office, participate in one of the many boards. Take part in sports, at either the varsity or intramural level.
Find your passion. Take advantage of the next three years—don’t waste a minute…………………………. Thanks for listening
