*REPORT FROM TALENT HUNT WRITING CONTEST*

As part of the programs scheduled to hold in the FOSSSA week, the *Talent Hunt Writing Contest* , being the first of it's kind was organized to enable the members of the faculty share their ideas on how they'd like the *FOSSSA WEEK* to be organized.

The contest which took place on 27th November, 2022 had *5* entries from various departments from the faculty and the *best three* entries were selected on the grounds of Mechanical accuracy, Content and Organization.

After thorough evaluation of the entries, the panelists concluded that the following participants would emerge as winners:
1. Yusuf Taiye; 400 level, Economics
2. Atere Hakeem Abiola; 300 level, Sociology
3. Bashir Abdulsamad; 100 level, Political Science.

In commendation of the efforts of all 5 participants, the body has agreed to reward all participants with certificates which are to be presented on the final day (award night) and the top three entries would be given 3GB, 2GB and 1GB respectively.

While we appreciate you and our participants, we look forward to having you participate in our forthcoming programmes.

*Deanery Faculty Of Social Science Okays Proposal For FOSSSA WEEK*

The Deputy Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Abdullahi Abubakar has consented to the proposal by the Faculty Students' leader to host a 5-day event tagged 'Fosssa Week'.

This was after a courtesy visit by the Faculty Students' President, Comrade Faisal Zubair alongside other Excos to his office yesterday, Thursday, 24, November, 2022.

The visit according to Comrade Faisal Zubair was to greet the father of the faculty as well as to intimate him on the plans of the association including, the reviewed constitution and the idea for an engaging end of session program, Fosssa Week, among others.

"I am pleased hearing the overview of your activities, so far, I really commend your effort, I will get back to you after perusing the constitution but for the Fosssa week, you and your team of exco should go ahead with the plan, it is a commendable initiative" he said.

The approved idea, FOSSSA Week, was proposed at the end of the last meeting with all students leaders of the four departments under the faculty to be a 5-day event entailing fitness trek, Dean's Cup, FOSSSA symposium, and FOSSSA Night.

When asked about issues of sanitation and clearing of the bushes in and around the faculty, the faculty students President said, "the management already gave us their words on that too, that the maintenance staffs will do the needful before next Monday, 28, November, 2022 In Sha Allah.

The meeting which had in attendance the faculty deputy dean, the faculty student association chairperson, his secretary and the sales director ended with the talk about how paying faculty dues and buying receipts for course registrations will support the association in achieving its set goals and objectives.

*WELCOME ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT*

It thrills me with great sense of enthusiasm and penchant humility to on behalf of the *FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION (FOSSSA)* extend my warm welcome our students back to the Campus after nine month of being at Home due to the first semester break and ASUU strike that mortgage the Continuing for the 2020/2021 academic session Second semester.
For the returning students we hope you have come back fresh and more determined to succeed in completing your studies with excellent performance.

While for the new students we hope you are coming with the resolve and determination to work hard, interact well with the *UDUS* community and be good ambassadors of your family, and your Country at large.

My fellow Danfodite and compatriots, let me emphasize here that there is no short road to any place worth going because only a serious approach can guarantee a glorious and excellent result. That is, to be successful, the opportunity you have to study at this at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto must be consolidated with adequate preparation.

UDUS STUDENT PUBLISHED A BOOK TITLED "LIFE AFTER CAMPUS."

Ogor Matthias Reports

Onyilo Micah Ngbede, a 300 level student of Political Science at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto on the 2nd day of October published his first book titled "LIFE AFTER CAMPUS."

When he was asked what inspired him to write and publish a book with such a title even as an undergraduate, he said:

"A lot of students have been suffering after graduating from institutions of higher learning. This is because they don't know what to do while on campus to reduce or prevent this hardship. Many people go to the school of education leaving the school of life behind. So, when they graduate from the school of education they come back to face the school of life".

This book is to help you prepare for life after campus, and help you to be proactive and forward-thinking. The book is available in hard and soft copies.
