In another bold step towards improving academic excellence and providing more educational opportunities, the management of Kano State Polytechnic, led by the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), to commence Postgraduate Diploma Programmes in Management and Social Sciences under the School of Continuing Education and Postgraduate Studies on a part-time basis.
The signing ceremony held on Friday, 17th April 2026, at the Universityโs liaison office in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in the history of the Polytechnic.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor (Engr.) Isaac Nathaniel Itodo, ably represented by the Dean, PGS, Prof. Raphael A. Ofukwu, lauded the Polytechnic management for its foresight and commitment in seeking affiliation with JOSTUM.
He explained that after diligent examination, the universityโs affiliation team presented a favourable report on the resource verification visit to the Polytechnic, conducted between 11th and 13th December 2025, which resulted in the Universityโs approval for the collaboration.
He further congratulated both institutions for this new fruitful beginning that would empower students to pursue their academic careers within the Polytechnic cycle and beyond.
In his response, the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, who was filled with great joy, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and the entire University management for considering the affiliation request made by Kano State Polytechnic.
He noted that the partnership would undoubtedly open new horizons for students, enabling them to obtain a comprehensive education.
He further thanked the affiliation team, who had worked tirelessly to make the collaboration a reality.
Among the KSP management that witnessed the signing were the Director, School of Continuing Education and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Ramatu Adamu Mohammed, CNA; the Director, Consultancy Services, Dr. Awaisu Adamu Salihi; and the Coordinator, Programme Visitation, Muhammad Abubakar Hotoro.
