The Institute was established under Katsina State of Nigeria Law No. 8 of 2013 as an Innovation Enterprise Institution (IEI) intended to develop home grown technologies and skills in industry and government.

Envisioned as a forward looking and business friendly technical institute that combines best practices in school systems in Nigeria and around the world, the Insitute was developed as a technologically advanced Institute of Technology with economic relevance to the practical world as its first priority and purpose. The initial two schools in technology and business, as well as the interdisciplinary centres of excellence, laboratories and professional training programmes would provide a complete academic and professional education pathway fora wide cross-section of Nigeria society.

One Year of Transformational Leadership: KSITM Community Celebrates the Rectorโ€™s Landmark Achievements

The Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students of Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) proudly celebrate the first anniversary in the office of Rector, Dr. Musa Ahmed Zayyad, MNCS, MCPS, as the third substantive Rector of the Institute.
Within just one year of purposeful and visionary leadership, the Rector has recorded remarkable and impactful achievements that have significantly repositioned the Institute for growth, stability, and academic excellence.

Among the notable milestones recorded are:

1. Successful resolution of the lingering issues involving SSANIP KSITM Chapter, thereby restoring industrial harmony and strengthening staff relations.
2. Improved staff welfare
3. Strengthen team work among the Management Staff
2. Renovation of classrooms and critical infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning environments.
3. Significant boost in student enrolment through strategic engagement with philanthropists to sponsor less privileged students.
4. Improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Institute through innovative and proactive measures.
5. Securing of E-governance projects from the State Government to develop the system for implementation by Permanent Secretaries and essential Directors across the State to aligning the state with modern administrative practices.
6. Renovation of the Instituteโ€™s Board Room to meet standard administrative requirements.
7. Revival of the Rectorโ€™s/Staff Forum meetings to promote inclusiveness and participatory governance.
8. Facilitation of approval for the completion of four (4) blocks of laboratories to strengthen practical learning.
9. Facilitation of approval for the renovation of studentsโ€™ hostels, improving student welfare and accommodation.
10. Commencement of Jumaโ€™at prayers at the Instituteโ€™s Central Mosque, fostering spiritual development within the campus community.
11. Establishment of a Management Information System (MIS) Unit to enhance digital operations.
12. Successful accreditation of previously expired programmes, restoring academic credibility and compliance.
13. Introduction of five (5) Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, expanding academic offerings.
14. Preparation to conduct of the Instituteโ€™s Combined Maiden Convocation Ceremony, marking a historic milestone.
15. Securing approval for the Institute to operate as a Vocational Enterprise Institute under TVET initiatives with eleven (11) trades.
16. Facilitation of government approval for the connection of the Institute to the National Gridโ€”an unprecedented achievement in the Instituteโ€™s history.
17. Renovation of Principal Officersโ€™ quarters and upgrading of institutional vehicles.
18. Upgrade and installation of solar power systems across key facilities including the Administrative Block, Clinic, Staff Quarters, Mosque, Library, and security gate.
19. Renovation of the IT Auditorium and procurement of dedicated sofas to improve comfort and usability.
20. Engagement of a medical consultant for the Institute Clinic on a weekly basis, alongside consistent provision of drugs for staff and students.
21. Successful accreditation of the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) unit by the NBTE which paved the way for the Institute to secure intervention support from ITF
22. Facilitate signing of MoUs and with Reputable agencies. Notably, the institute has established strategic partnerships with organisations such as UNICEF, Lumilab, Brighter Path Foundation and Gwagware Foundation.
23. Initiated the construction of CBT centre under 2026 TETfund Physical Project
24. Renovation and upgrades of power house
25. Revival of Alumni and allocation of office accommodation
26. Renovation of Institute's Central Mosque
27. The number of cleaners has been increased, alongside an improvement in their monthly allowances
28. Intensified it's community service initiatives by organising free training programmes for secondary school students to prepare them for WAEC, NECO and Jamb examinations

These achievements reflect a clear commitment to institutional development, staff and student welfare, infrastructural renewal, and academic advancement.

The Institute community expresses its profound appreciation to the Rector for his dedication, foresight, and tireless efforts in steering the affairs of KSITM towards excellence within such a short period.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Supervising Ministry, the Governing Council, and the Katsina State Government for their unwavering support, guidance, and commitment to the growth and development of the Institute.

NBTE Approves Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM/KSILABS) as a Vocational Enterprise Institute Under TVET Initiative

Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) is pleased to announce its official approval by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to operate as a Vocational Enterprise Institute (VEI) under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative.

This landmark approval follows a successful accreditation exercise conducted by NBTE on 2nd April, 2026, during which the Instituteโ€™s facilities, manpower, and training capacity were thoroughly assessed and found to meet the required standards for TVET delivery.

With this approval, KSITM/KSILABS is now authorized to offer industry-relevant, competency-based training programmes aimed at equipping youths and the general public with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.

The approved trades include:
1. Solar PV Installation and Maintenance
2. Social Media Communication
3. Creative Media (Modern Media Production)
4. Fashion Design and Tailoring
5. Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology
6. Networking and System Installation
7. Hospitality and Catering Training
8. Electrical Installation
9. Satellite and CCTV Installation and Maintenance
10. Welding and Fabrication
11. Computer Hardware Repair and Maintenance

This development represents a major milestone in the Instituteโ€™s commitment to promoting technical education and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. KSITM IN COLLABORATION WITH TINUBU/DIKKO ASSURED (TDA) 2027 TRAINS 1,100 STUDENTS ON JAMB UTME CBT EXAMINATION

The Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM), in collaboration with Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027, successfully trained 1,100 students on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination.

The training programme was officially flagged off on 1st April 2026 and ran from 2nd to 12th April 2026, with 100 participants trained daily. The initiative was designed to equip candidates with the necessary skills and confidence required to excel in the CBT examination environment.

Speaking at the conclusion of the programme, the Director, Directorate of Skills Development and Community Services, Mal. Saifullahi Lawal, expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the training and commended the cooperation and commitment demonstrated by the facilitators, TDA 2027 team, and participants. He urged all beneficiaries to make effective use of the knowledge acquired by adhering strictly to the best practices taught during the sessions.

He further explained that the training was structured around three key modules: Computer Appreciation, JAMB UTME CBT Software, and Ethical Conduct and Best Practices, all carefully designed to enhance both technical competence and examination readiness.

The Director also acknowledged the generous sponsorship of the programme by Alh. Umar Ahmed Zayyad under the Tunubu/Dikko Assured 2027 initiative, describing it as a laudable contribution to educational development and youth empowerment.

In addition, appreciation was extended to the Rector of KSITM, Dr Musa Ahmed Zayyad for his unwavering support and for providing an enabling environment that ensured the success of the programme.
