*King Makers Don't Look Like Kings.*

A friend shared this personal story with me, and I'm certain you will find it interesting and educative.

His words... Many years back, I worked as a Clerk at a faculty in a popular Nigerian university. At that time, I noticed an advert for the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA). Always having an interest in attending NDA, I applied, submitted my form, and was called for the admission examination.

I had to travel all the way from Osun State to Kaduna, where a distant Uncle lived. I wrote a letter to him, (there was no telephone then), stating my intention to sit for an exam in Kaduna and asked if I could stay at his place.

As my departure date approached, I hadn't received a reply to my letter, leaving me worried since I needed to go. Discussing my concern about where to stay with a colleague in the office, our Hausa office cleaner overheard and interjected in his pidgin English that he knew someone right inside NDA.

Who could he know there, is it not a Cleaner like himself, I unintentionally said it out to his hearing.
"Oga no o, the Commandant op za NDA na ma classmate and ma priend".
In his bad handwriting, he scribbled the Commandant's name on a piece of paper.
"Just mention my name por am, him go helf you".

I reluctantly accepted the paper from him, not because I planned to use it but to spare his feelings.

The next day I set out on this long journey by train from Oshogbo, I got to Kaduna the next day towards evening. Upon getting there, I went straight to my Uncle's house only to find out that he had relocated from that place and have no clue as to his new address. I became stranded and it was getting late.

Around 7 pm, I decided to try the Cleaner's contact. I reached NDA's gate, mentioned the name I was given, and was surprised when everyone recognised it. I was immediately escorted to the Commandant's office.

I gave the paper where Kabiru wrote his name and that of his friend to the Secretary who took it inside. On sighting the paper, the Commandant shouted from the office and followed the Secretary outside to usher me in. "Where do you know Kabiru? He's my colleague in the office sir," I answered.
"Where is he"? "How is he? "I hope he's doing well?" This man was asking me many questions in an obvious excitement.

The look on his face confirmed to me that Kabiru was his beloved friend. He asked me what I came to do in Kaduna and I said it was for the NDA exams. "Wow, do you have where to sleep?" "No, sir". He immediately called someone to take me to his house. On getting to the house I was lavishly entertained.

This man came late in the night, woke me up and took me up on tutorials for the next day's exams. After the exams he personally drove me to the park the next day.

When I got back to the campus, I began to look at Kabiru differently. How on earth could he know such an influential person?

Needless to say, when the results were released, my name ranked fourth on the list.

Friends, relationships are a currency. Stop the attitude of 'I better pass my neighbour". Every man needs another to move up and that person may be the neighbour you look down on, may be the Taxi driver you so despise or even the house help you think is a nobody today.

Relationships are a source of opportunity; they are crucial in life.
Impossibility can become an opportunity on basis of relationship. Those we know in life matters. Most of us are talented but we need a cup bearer that will tell Pharaoh that there's a Joseph that can interpret dreams.

There are some heights you may never get to in life until someone tells someone about you. So shut the door of relationships gently, you may need to use it tomorrow.

As we embark on a new year with a new beginning and promises, let's take our relationships seriously. Whether meeting online or in person, never look down on anyone. You never know which relationship might unlock the door to your success.

Sometimes, those who anoint kings don't resemble royalty.

WHY MY DAUGHTER CAN'T MARRY POOR MAN BY ELON MUSK.
Elon Musk explains why his daughter can’t marry a poor man.

A few years ago there was a conference in the United States on investment and finance.

One of the speakers was Elon Musk and during the question and answer session, he was asked a question that had everyone laughing.

If he, the richest man in the world, could accept that his daughter marry a poor or modest man.

His answer can change something in everyone.

Elon Musk - First of all, understand that
Wealth does not mean having a fat bank account. Wealth is primarily the ability to create wealth.

Example: Someone who wins the lottery or gambling. Even if he wins 100 millions is not a rich man: He is a poor man with a lot of money. That's the reason why 90% of the lottery millionaires become poor again after 5 years.

You also have rich people who have no money.

Example: Most entrepreneurs.
THEY are already on the road to wealth even though they have no money, because they are developing their financial intelligence and that is wealth.

How are the rich and the poor different?

To put it simply: The rich may die to become rich, while the poor may kill to become rich.

If you see a young person who decides to train, to learn new things, who tries to improve himself constantly, know that he/she is a rich person.

If you see a young person who thinks that the problem is the state, and who thinks that the rich are all thieves and who criticizes constantly, know that he is a poor person.

The rich are convinced that they just need information and training to take off, the poor think that others must give them money to take off.

In conclusion, when I say that my daughter will not marry a poor man, I am not talking about money. I'm talking about the ability to create wealth in that man.

Excuse me for saying this, but most criminals are poor people. When they are in front of money, they lose their mind, that's why they rob, steal etc... For them it is a grace because they don't know how they could earn money by themselves.

One day, the guard of a bank found a bag full of money, he took the bag and went to give it to the bank manager.

People called this man an idiot, but in reality this man was just a rich man who had no money.

One year later, the bank offered him a job as a receptionist, 3 years later he was a customer manager and 10 years later he manages the regional management of this bank, he manages hundreds of employees and his annual bonus exceeds the amount he could have stolen.

Wealth is first of all a state of mind.

So … Are you rich or poor?

I have come across the above narrative before, I thought I should share. It's a mindset we can pass on to the young people.

Wallahi! If only our leaders realised they are accountable to Allah and would bear the weight of oppressing others on the Day of Judgement, they wouldn't be so callous and selfish.

Every penny acquired fraudulently will be accounted for on the Day when money or position won't matter. Then, Allah will assign us their good deeds as 'palliatives,' and they will carry our sins.

The blood of those who died due to poor roads, malfunctioning hospitals, lack of food, etc., will be against our leaders on the day of Reckoning. This also applies to dubious contractors, compromised civil servants, and all those aiding corruption and insanity.

The following Hadith corroborates this:

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked his companions, 'Do you know who is the bankrupt person?' They said, 'The bankrupt among us is the one who has neither money nor property.' The Prophet replied, 'The bankrupt of my Ummah (this generation) is the one who comes on the Day of Resurrection with prayers, fasting, and charity but had also abused somebody, slandered another, wrongfully taken the property of someone else, and shed the blood of another. They will take from their good deeds, and if their good deeds are exhausted before the judgment is made, their sins will be taken and thrown upon them. Then, they will be thrown into the Hellfire.' (Reported by Muslim)

If this prophetic revelation does not move you, think of our past rulers. Where are they now and all that they acquired? How many houses and properties were buried with them? Undoubtedly none! They face their Lord for judgement. Can Thurgood Marshall, Gani Fawehinmi, Tunji Braithwaite, and other proficient lawyers defend them before Allah?

Sadly, I've personally concluded that we don't genuinely detest corruption in this part of the world. When you see people like you and me agitating, complaining, or voicing concerns on social media, the uproar and outcry are not due to a sincere hatred for corrupt practices, embezzlement, or incompetence; it's because we're not benefiting from these corrupt acts. That's why you'll see the beneficiaries ardently defending what's blatantly unjust, and who is unequivocally 'Aṣiyán'!

Seeking solace in divine intervention. May Allah bless Nigeria and Nigerians.

🤝 Life is not to be lived alone: we depend on one another. It's often wiser to build connections than walls; unity tends to achieve more than individual efforts.

🌐 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Embrace unity over isolation; life's strength lies in our interconnectedness. Just as a fierce tree still thrives within the forest, our power magnifies through collaboration. Respect diversity, build bridges, and champion unity; these are the pathways to collective success.
