FROM THE OUTGONE NATIONAL PRESIDENT COMR. NASIRU ALIYU TELA.
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim
"Everything that has a beginning also has an end."
All salutations and gratitude are due to Allah, the Lord of the universe, who bestows power and receives it in His will. May the blessings of Allah continue to shower upon His beloved Prophet, his family, his faithful companions, and all those who follow their path to the final day.
I thank Almighty Allah for sparing our lives, granting us the gift of life, health, time, wisdom, power, capacity, strength, and protection from day one up to this historic day. I and the other members of the national executive council of Misau Emirate Students Association were elected on September 29, 2021, and inaugurated on October 2, 2021. After two years of selfless service filled with honor, tradition, and respect, we entrusted the mantle of leadership of this noble body to other competent hands to continue the task of elevating the union to greater heights.
It instills in me a profound sense of gratitude and appreciation to convey my sincere thanks to the Executives, stakeholders, appointees and entire students of Misau Emirate for their unwavering support, unceasing commitment, and maximum cooperation throughout our tenure as the captains of the ship.
Though the journey was not always comfortable, we achieved much despite the challenges and difficulties. The Almighty Allah granted us abilities in His infinite mercy, and the journey was a success. MESA was handed over to me, and I passed the baton to others whom we expect to take the union to new heights.
Among the numerous achievements of my administration include:
UNITY: Our primary goal was to unite the students under one umbrella. The association came up with an effective strategy, including the appointment of Mesa recovery and reconciliation committee, District coordinators in every district to maintain free flow of information between the national leadership and the district members. We also initiated a constitution review to address power distribution issues.
MOBILITY: The association remained immobile until our emergence when we secured a car mobility .
ORIENTATION AND EXTRA MURALS: Improving the standard and quality of education in the Emirate was a prime objective. We organized orientation/extra mural lessons for outgoing Secondary School Students to yield fruitful O-level results and acquire the requirements for tertiary institutions. Additionally, we introduced Computer-Based Test (CBT) training for JAMB CBT Exams, which yielded positive results.
STUDENTS' WELFARE: Under our watch, MESA sponsored UTME registrations and secured admissions for bonafide sons and daughters of the Emirate into various higher institutions, resulting in the expectation of another set of first-class graduates.
BOND ESTABLISHMENT: we established a strong bond with the previous mesa leadership, NGOs and other responsible elite across the emirate.
ADVOCACY: We raised objections to the federal government's decision to increase unity college fees through our representation in the National Assembly.
UPSKILLS COMPUTER CLASSES: To promote computer skills, we organized Upskills Computer classes and rewarded the best students.
SEMINAR ON VOLUNTEERISM: We organized a 3-day seminar on volunteerism in the community, with 76 participants.
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: MESA celebrated its 50th-anniversary Golden Jubilee, attended by former presidents and high-profile personalities and honor the family of our deceased educational heroes.
DINNER AND AWARD: We organized a "DINNER AND AWARD" event, honoring respected dignitaries.
SENSITIZATION: We organized a sensitization rally on Drug Abuse and the importance of possessing a Personal Voters Card during National General Elections.
SKILLS ACQUISITION PROGRAM: MESA organized a skill acquisition program to equip students with entrepreneurial skills were over 276 students benefited. To be mentioned but not all
CHALLENGES: Every endeavor encounters challenges, both internal and external. Our esteemed union is no exception. Challenges included:
FINANCIAL INSTABILITY: MESA faced financial instability, hindering planned educative activities. However, with our efforts, we achieved some financial stability.
In conclusion, I want to reaffirm the association's highest regards to all who contributed to its success. May Allah shower His blessings upon us and our future generations. My highest concern remains achieving a sound and qualitative education in Misau Emirate.
Lastly, I call upon high-profile elites and stakeholders to consider every member of this Association as their children, helping our noble Association and the upcoming generation regardless of differences.
Misau Emirate Students Association belongs to all of us. Let's work together to elevate its caliber and contribute to the development of our Emirate. We are passing the torch to others, but our commitment to MESA's mission remains.
Long live MESA!
Long live Misau Emirate!
Long live Bauchi State!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Yours in Struggle,
Comr. Nasiru Aliyu (Tela),
Former President, MESA National Body
(2021-2023)
