Change Your Life in Two Years
A good story always starts from somewhere and told by someone. This is a first hand history of Evette as penned down by someone that grew up with the School.
I grew up watching my mother, Lady Eva impact the lives of many young Nigerian women for good. Lady Eva saw how many young women were being exposed to the dangers of prostitution and exploitation due to the lack of job-focused skills and obviously insufficient fund for University Education. So, she started a training centre with the little but expertise knowledge in Food Nutrition that she had. She was working for the State Government then while taking care of seven children plus few relatives (this is quite common within the African culture, where the eldest is expected to take care of her siblings). Lady Eva was driven by a burden to keep girls off the street, raise their self worth and to become financially free. So she started compiling food and confectionery recipes in addition to making sketches of dresses to inorder learn more and update the knowledge she already had ((Mother learned about Fashion, Food and Home management during her University days)
Over 35 years have gone since then, the Training Centre which offers vocational courses in Catering, Hotel Management and Fashion Design ranging from a short 1month training to 2year Diploma course has seen over 2000 young ladies shape their story line into something amazing. Most of these young women have gone on to better their lives, some are now working within the booming hospitality industry in Nigeria, many are happily married and running their own micro enterprise, in addition to that, others have chosen the academic route and moved on to obtain the much coveted University degree.
This daring and positive drive that was initiated by the singular effort of a very busy Nigerian Woman (Lady Eva) has changed the storyline of most Nigerian young women, restoring their pride, giving them a sense of self-worth and enabling them to transition into gainful employment. However, there is still a widening gap.
