Idjerhe Grammar School Alumni Association Honours Distinguished Alumni, Elects New Executive

It was a day of honour for the crème de la crème of Idjerhe Grammar School Old Students' Association (IGSOSA), involving all old boys and old girls of the College who came from all walks of life to grace her 2nd National Conference Lecture tagged: Cultism, Internet Scam And Ritual Killings As It Affects The Society",

The activity marking the 2nd National Conference Lecture, was preceded by a courtesy visit on the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM King Monday Obukohwo Arthur Whiskey (JP), UDURHIE 1, presentation of moral values titled: "The Effect of Immorality in Our Society" to students of the College at the Assembly ground and novelty match between school team and old students, held at the College premises, Jesse Town, during the weekend.

The ceremony was a remarkable one to behold as it did not only provided the old students the opportunity to meet with their old classmates and teachers, but it signalled the home coming of distinguished Alumni that saw the presence of the Chairman of Board of Trustees, Chief Monday Iyore Osagie and other members of the Board who presented awards to distinguished and deserving awardees.

The ceremony which climaxed into election of new executive to pilot the affairs of the association for the next four years, returned unopposed the incumbent National President of the Association, Mr. Fidelix Omamogho, and other members of the Exco to serve for second term.

The Exco members returned unopposed for second term are the National Vice President, Mrs. Edirin Ejiroghene; National Secretary, Chief Wilson Okporua; National Treasurer, Mrs. Ruth Ozoude; National Legal Officer, Her Worship, Mrs. Esther Omavueze; National Auditor, Mr. Joseph Nana and National Social Coordinator, Mr. Harrison Akpaka.

Other officers elected are: National Publicity Secretary/PRO, Mr. Lucky Oyibo; National Financial Secretary, Mrs. Doris Young Mokpe, National Assistant Sec

A WELCOME ADDRESS PRESENTED BY THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF IDJERHE GRAMMAR SCHOOL OLD STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION (IGSOSA), MR. FIDELIX .A. OMAMOGHO, ON THE OCCASION OF THE 1ST NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, HOLDING AT THE CONFERENCE HALL OF THE COLLEGE, JESSE TOWN, ON SATURDAY, 18TH JUNE, 2022 AT 11AM.

Protocol

It is with sincere humility and happiness that I welcome our affable BOT Chairman and other distinguished invitees to this historic ceremony.

An event like this is very important for us, the old boys and girls of this College, as it provides us the opportunity to meet with many of our old students after a long time as well as provide them a chance to meet each other, our former teachers and other staff members.

The event also enables old students to notice and relate with the changes and developments that has taken place in the school then and now. After our secondary school education, many of us moved to different towns and cities for higher education and some have since settled across the globe.

I am certain about the fact that the old boys and girls of our College are performing their best in their different field of endeavour. The glory and fame of a school does not only rest on its administration and teaching staff, but largely on the achievements and developments of its students; which we are extremely proud and fortunate that we are an important part of this College and will remain in our hearts forever.

However, the establishment of the ancient College of Idjerhe Kingdom in 1977 was necessitated due to lack of post-primary education in the clan. This was why our earliest Elites and community leaders saw the need by pulling resources together towards assisting the government of the day in laying a solid foundation for the eventual take-off of the College.

This was an era where healthy educational and sporting competitions thrive within the College and among other schools in the region, as her boarding facilities was an envy of other
