YOUR VOTE IS THE STATE OF OUR COUNTRY
Fellow Nigerians, I salute you all! All thanks to God (Allah) who keeps us till this very day. I thank God for our blessed beloved country, Nigeria. I thank God for our past, present and future leaders.
Brethren, 25th February, 2023 is less than 72 hours from the time of this publication. As far as Nigeria is concerned, we all know what that day is. If at all you don't know or it has escaped your memory, be informed or reminded that we are going to exercise our franchise politically on that very day. In other word, we are going to elect our leaders into the federal house, senate and presidency.
Now, know it well that the state of affairs of this nation solely depends on the people we choose to lead us. The question now is; who will be our next leader? What is expected from this leader? How can we make our votes count? And, who is the people's best choice? Do you know we can make it right?
Oh yes! From my discussion with diverse set of people, I have come to realized that people have different reasons they have to support a particular candidate. That simply means, that people's choice of leadership are quite different. In all these, I believe we can have a common result.
These are the was we're going to have an effective result during this election:
1) SEE NIGERIA BEYOND HER PRESENT STATE: Many Nigerians simply believe that even if they vote or not, a person who is going to be favoured by our colonial masters, prominent men of our and the likes is the person who will be our next president and others.
Here, some people believe that they can get any amount of money that is given to them and vote because of the money and not because the said vote is for their choice of candidate.
Please, know it well that something good can come out of Nazareth. Truly, Nigeria can't remain the same. You and I can join hands together to change Nigeria. This can only be possible when we change our mindset toward our beloved country.
2) DON'T SALE OUR FUTURE: Come to think of it, if anyone emerge as a winner as a result of money, how then will he/she have the interest of the masses at heart? Sincerely speaking, you don't need to collect money to vote. Vote your conscience and let the person live to remember that it's the people who choose him and not his money. The logic here is money will be attracted to money and people will be attracted to people. What does that mean, if it was money, he will decide to get it back in hundred folds and if it is people, he will look into the need of the people.
3) KNOW THE TRUTH AND STAND FOR IT: Another problem we're currently facing in this country is having party interest at heart. I know you love your party. I know you will do everything possible for your party to rule. But do you care to know if all your candidates are good enough to lead the masses? Even if your unit, ward, local government or state is dominated by a your party, please kindly let others vote their choice. Don't force anyone to pay homage to your party! Also, try and avoid your candidate if you know he/she will not help to salvage or relief us totally from our present condition.
4) DO YOUR PART: I know a winner will emerge even though you vote or not. Let me quote this, "a bad governance is the result of good people refusing to vote the people they think are right and good enough to lead us". Hope, that sounds good to you! Whether your vote will count or not, just go and vote. Your vote is needed!
5) DON'T BE COMPELLED TO DO EVIL: If someone pays you to kill another man just for him to rule, know it well that such a person is not worth leading us. In fact, he is not giving you enough reason to believe that he has the interest of people at heart. Avoid violence. Don't allow yourself to be used by someone who will rule for a period of 8years as maximum. Remember, there were leaders before and there will be leaders after. Be responsible and help Nigeria get better!
To be continued...
Your brother and friend,
Ekemini-ubong John
