Bayelsa Medical University continues to make remarkable strides on the global stage as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dimie Ogoina, delivered the prestigious James Hakim Memorial Lecture at the INTEREST 2026 Conference in Tanzania.
In his presentation titled “HIV and Mpox: A Syndemic Lens,” Prof. Ogoina provided critical scientific insights into the intersection of HIV and mpox, emphasizing the need for African-led research, strengthened disease surveillance, and equitable access to healthcare interventions. His participation at one of Africa’s leading scientific conferences further reinforces BMU’s growing reputation as a rising global institution in medical education, research, and public health leadership.
