Scholarship for UvA education!
Two IIS and TLC staff members have won a major scholarship. The project “Empowered Minds” is about learning with your whole brain, including your feelings and values. ❤️
What does this mean for students?
* You will not only learn facts, but also how to apply them to real social problems.
* You will develop yourself more broadly: knowledge, skills and personal growth!

We are proud of this scholarship and look forward to the developments! And we congratulate Ilja Boor and Linda de Greef!

Join the Create a Course Challenge finale! You are cordially invited to find out which course idea will be developed into an elective during the live finale on Thursday 23 November, from 17 until 19, at the Room for Discussion stage in the central hall of the E building on the UvA Roeterseiland campus.

The jury members are John Grin, full professor of public policy and governance at the University of Amsterdam, Linda de Greef, programme manager of the Education Lab of the IIS and Noah Pellikaan, chairperson of the Central Student Council of the UvA. The winner will then further develop the course together with the IIS. Next academic year, the winning course will be on the UvA curriculum as an elective course open to all UvA students.

During the live finale of the Create a Course Challenge, the jury decides which idea will be rewarded with the actual realisation of the course.

Wil jij als onderwijs-professional helpen nieuwe tools te creëren? ✨ Kom naar de Toolbox-co-creatiesessie in Amsterdam! Afgelopen zomer werd de Toolbox voor Transitiemakers gelanceerd: een toolbox vol educatieve materialen en toetsvormen die studenten aan de hand van de Inner Development Goals vaardigheden leren om te kunnen bijdragen aan maatschappelijke verandering.

Op woensdag 8 november vindt van 09.00 - 13.00 de eerste Toolbox-co-creatiesessie plaats. De follow-up is op woensdag 24 januari van 09.00 - 13.00. Meedoen? Mail naar [email protected].

Last summer, the Transition Makers Toolbox was launched: a toolbox full of educational materials and test forms that teach students skills to contribute to social change, based on the Inner Development Goals.

Het is weer tijd voor onze jaarlijkse Create a Course Challenge! Dit jaar is het een special edition: we dagen alle studenten van de Universiteit van Amsterdam uit om een idee in te sturen voor een nieuw vak dat past binnen het thema ‘Future Change’.

🔮De toekomst vraagt om innovatieve oplossingen voor actuele uitdagingen. Voor deze special edition van de challenge ligt de nadruk dan ook op het bijdragen aan de veranderingen die de maatschappij nodig heeft.

⏭️ Verandering is een breed begrip dat vanuit allerlei invalshoeken kan worden benaderd, zoals op technologisch, economisch, ecologisch, politiek, sociaal, psychologisch en filosofisch vlak.

✨During the launch of the Transition Makers Toolbox (check it out on transitionmakers.nl!) the Transition Makers Cards were introduced, and are now available to teachers and educational innovators, for free! 🔥

This card deck features thought-provoking questions, such as “What specific actions or strategies could you adopt to develop your skills in creative problem-solving?”. These questions aren’t your usual small talk – they encourage you to reflect on inner development, personal values and experiences with overcoming setbacks. Whether you’re aiming to spark self-awareness in students or kick off conversations at a networking event or a meeting with your coworkers, these questions do the job.

Ben jij een docent in het hogeronderwijs en op zoek naar lesmaterialen voor transitieonderwijs? De Toolbox voor Transitiemakers is inmiddels live! We blikken terug op een geslaagde lancering.🚀

Deze samenwerking tussen het Instituut voor Interdisciplinaire Studies (IIS), de alliance TU/e, WUR, UU, UMC Utrecht (EWUU) en University College Utrecht, biedt docenten krachtige tools om studenten vaardigheden te leren voor het aanpakken van maatschappelijke transities met kant-en-klare onderwijsmaterialen, gebaseerd op het framework van de Inner Development Goals. Alle materialen zijn gratis te downloaden en aan te passen aan de context van het (hoger) onderwijs.

🗓️ Benieuwd hoe je de toolbox kunt gebruiken? Op 30 augustus geven we de workshop “Unlocking the potential of the Toolbox for your education" in Utrecht. Meld je gratis aan via de website!

De Toolbox voor Transitiemakers is gelanceerd! Deze samenwerking heeft als doel docenten te voorzien van creatieve tools om studenten vaardigheden te leren voor het aanpakken van grote maatschappelijke transities.

“Een win-win voor heel veel verschillende partijen”, aldus student Nova-Linde die onlangs het vak Placemaking volgde.

Nog 9 dagen tot de uitreiking van de Nederlandse Onderwijspremie 2023! De premies worden overhandigd door minister van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap Robbert Dijkgraaf ter waardering van onderwijsvernieuwing en verbetering. Nationaal Regieorgaan Onderwijsonderzoek (NRO) kwam langs op het Roeterseiland om het genomineerde IIS-onderwijsinitiatief Placemaking in beeld te brengen. Op naar 29 juni!
