De AKI is de kleinste academie van Nederland, gevormd in de jaren zestig en tot de dag van vandaag schatplichtig aan de uitgangspunten van toen: individueel onderwijs, zo weinig mogelijk bepaald door structuren of controlesystemen, zo veel mogelijk gericht op de menselijke maat en op het eigen initiatief van studenten en docenten. De AKI is onderdeel van ArtEZ Hogeschool, maar we hechten zeer aan

onze autonomie als klein-schalige academie. Onderwijs wordt gemaakt op de werkvloer.

The AKI is the smallest academy in the Netherlands, established in the 1960s and still dedicated to its founding principles: providing an individualised education with a minimum of structures and control systems and focused, instead, on the human dimension and students' and instructors' own initiatives. AKI is part of the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts, but it also greatly values its autonomy as a small academy.

Jaaaa.....hij hangt! Op het stadskantoor van Enschede zie je de aankondiging van onze AKI-Finals expo. Op het enorme doek (13 x 8 meter) zie je werk van Eline de Boer van onze opleiding Cross Media Design.

Welkom! De AKI ArtEZ Finals – de jaarlijkse eindtentoonstelling van onze opleidingen Fine Art, Crossmedia Design en Moving Image – is van 26 juni tot en met 3 juli te zien in onze academie.

“I’m very interested in the connections between human beings and more-than-human bodies,” says Weronica about the inspiration behind her graduation project. For this project, she designed a burial suit that explores how ecosystems are in a constant state of transformation, continuously becoming one another — including ourselves as humans.

In de lessen fotografie van Alina Jonker maakten onze eerstejaars studenten Cross Media Design fotografische remakes van - door hun zelf - gekozen kunstwerken. Hier zie je ze werken aan de remake van een schilderij van Gustav Klimt. Met behulp van kostuums, achtergronden, schmink, props en licht construeren ze een prachtige remake met een eigen twist, stijl en interpretatie.

Dealing with the absence of memories - that is the central theme of Caroline’s graduation project. In an immersive experience, visitors explore a space defined by the absence of light, gradually discovering the installation.

During several awards were presented on behalf of , including the Talent Impact Prize, the Pop Prize, and the award for Best Track. Crossmedia Design student was tasked with designing the awards, and in this video he explains how he approached the process.

“The fact that the glass puffs up during the making process really aligns with what I try to express through my work,” says Liz, a Fine Art student at AKI.

The exhibition, titled Shaping the Unpredictable, is on view until May 7. It presents the outcome of a student field trip Liz and her fellow AKI students took with their teacher, , to Leerdam, where they worked alongside master glassblower Gert Bullée.

Een feest om te zien, vandaag in de AKI keramiekwerkplaats: de aandacht, het geconcentreerd werken en het werkplezier.
Julia van Eijden en Erik Kok geven onze studenten clinics ‘reductie-glazuur-stook'. Deze week draaien en bouwen met de klei, dan kan er in mei, als de klei goed droog is, verder worden gewerkt met glazuur.
