Onze vierde kandidaat/ our fourth candidate:

Wieke

Mijn naam is Wieke Geels en ik ben Masterstudent Behaviour Change. Hiervoor heb ik mijn Bachelor ook aan de RU gevolgd! Buiten mijn studie om zit ik niet graag stil: ik doe allerlei projecten (vooral op het gebied van duurzaamheid), help scholieren met hun profielwerkstuk als bijbaantje en ik ben ook student-lid van het College van Beroep op de Examens, de commissie waar je heen gaat als je het niet eens bent met de examencommissie. Mensen kennen mij als iemand die altijd op de hoogte is van wat er gaande is mijn omgeving, en ik denk dat die eigenschap goed uitkomt als lid van de OLC! Ik heb een aantal jaar geleden als bestuurslid van SPS-NIP Nijmegen ook meegedacht over de belangen van psychologiestudenten, voornamelijk op het gebied van voorbereiding op de arbeidsmarkt, en ik vind dat onderwerp nog steeds erg belangrijk. Daarnaast vind ik het belangrijk dat de aanpassingen vanwege Corona het best aansluiten bij zowel de studenten als de docenten. Ik wil graag in de OLC om mee te kunnen denken over de kwaliteit van het onderwijs en om de meningen van mijn medestudenten te vertegenwoordigen!

My name is Wieke Geels and I am a Masterstudent of Behaviour Change. Before this, I did the Bachelorprogramme of Psychology at the RU as well! Next to my studies I am pretty active: I do all kinds of projects (mostly on sustainability), I help pupils with their Profielwerkstuk as a sidejob and I am a student-member of the Examination Appeals Board (where you go when you don’t agree with the Examcommittee). People know me as someone who is always up to date on what is going on in her surroundings, and I think that quality is useful as a member of the DPC. A few years ago, I was a member of the board of SPS-NIP Nijmegen, where I was also involved with Psychology students’ interests, especially regarding preparing students for the labour market, and I still care a lot about that topic. Next to that I also find it important that the changes made regarding the Coronavirus fit both students and teachers best. I would like to join the DPC to join the discussion on the quality of our education and to represent the opinions of my fellow students!

Onze derde kandidaat/ our third candidate:

Kira

Hoi,
Mijn naam is Kira Hornborstel, ik ben 23 jaar oud en volg de arbeids en organisatie master. De meesten van jullie kennen mij via SPIN (Sport commissie of de tokyo study trip) of mijn jaar in de OLC tijdens de bachelor. Voor iedereen die mij niet zo goed kent, ben ik een erg vriendelijk en vertrouwd persoon die graag iedereen wil betrekken en rekening houdt met haar/zijn mening. Verder ontmoet ik graag vrienden om een wandeling in het bos te maken of een kopje koffie mee te drinken. Naast persoonlijk contact zoeken in de COVID-19 periode, verplaats ik bijna even graag zoveel mogelijk gewicht bij powerlift vereniging Profectus. De crisis maakt mij soms een beetje verdrietig en daarom zou ik graag regelmatig mee willen praten over verbeteringen van de master programma’s. Ik ben vastbesloten om de best mogelijke oplossing met de input van iedereen te vinden. Verder denk ik meer ideeën te krijgen over de verbetering van de master programma’s door het honours project ‘climate change’. Ook werk ik met master studenten van andere faculteiten wat mij inzicht geeft in andere curricula en opleidingsstructuren.
Stemmen voor mij betekent dat ik altijd in ben voor een zoom gesprekje of een afspraak onder het genot van een kopje koffie om alles wat je maar wilt te bespreken. Je zult mij vaker zien bij een ARGON meeting, het sportcentrum of in de bibliotheek. Ik ben altijd blij om te luisteren naar input, niet alleen van de A&O master, maar ook van andere psychologie master richtingen. Samen zullen we het beste van deze situatie maken, zodat wij onze carrière richtingen kunnen starten zoals gepland.

Hi,
I am Kira Hornbostel, 23 years old and enrolled in the Master Work, Organisation and Health. Most of you might know me from SPiN (Sports committee or from the Tokyo Study Trip) or my year in the OLC during my bachelors. For everyone who does not know me so well, I am an outgoing person who likes to include everyone and takes everybody’s opinion into account. Moreover, I love to connect with my friends on a stroll through the forest or at a coffee break. Besides seeking personal connections during COVID-19, I love to move as much weight as possible at the powerlifting association Profectus. The crisis is making me a little bit sad as I would like to talk about improvements of the master programmes more frequently. I´m eager to find the best solutions to get input from everyone. I will get further ideas on how to improve our master tracks through the honours project `climate change`. I am working with master students from different faculties, which gives me insight in their curriculum and structure.
Voting for me means that I will always be down for a zoom call or a coffee meetup to discuss anything you like. You will see me at any ARGON meetup, the SportsCenter, or in the library. I am always happy to listen to input not only from the Work Master, but from all psychology master tracks. Together we will make the best out of the situation, so that we can start our career paths as planned.

Onze tweede kandidaat/ our second candidate:

Dorothee

Hallo, mijn naam is Dorothee Vollmer en ik wil me graag verkiesbaar stellen als Masterstudentlid voor de Opleidingscommissie Psychologie. Afgelopen jaar heb ik al mee mogen praten als Bachelorstudentlid van de OLC en dit beviel me zo goed dat ik mij graag nog een jaar voor de onderwijskwaliteit van de studies Psychologie wil inzetten. Hierbij wil ik nu vooral de belangen van mijn medestudenten van de Gezondheidszorgpsychologie Master vertegenwoordigen en wil ik graag meedenken over de veranderde omstandigheden omtrent onderwijs en stage lopen tijdens Corona. Ook wil ik als Duitser die de Engelse Bachelortrack heeft gevolgd meedenken over de potentiële moeilijkheden voor buitenlanders die de Nederlandse Masteropleiding (willen) volgen. Ik hoop dat ik me na de verkiezingen naast mijn studie mag bezig houden met de belangen van de Psychologiestudenten op de Radboud Universiteit!

Hello, my name is Dorothee Vollmer and I would like to become a Master student member of the Degree Programme Committee for Psychology. Last year, I already had the pleasure to contribute to the quality of education in Psychology as a Bachelor student member of de DPC. I enjoyed it so much that I would like to participate another year in helping to increase the quality of education within the Psychology studies. This time, I would especially like to represent the interests of my fellow students from the Master Gezondheidszorgpsychologie. I would like to weigh in on the changing conditions in education and internships in times of COVID-19. Furthermore, as a German who has followed the English Bachelor’s programme, I would like to engage with the potential difficulties that internationals who (want to) follow the Dutch Master’s programme may encounter. I hope that I may be involved in representing the interests of the psychology students at Radboud University after the elections!

Onze eerste kandidaat/ our first candidate:

Sophie Offeringa

Hoi, mijn naam is Sophie Offeringa en ik ben 22 jaar oud. In september ben ik begonnen aan de Gezondheidspsychologiemaster. Naast mijn studie ben ik zo nu en dan op het terras te vinden en ga ik graag hardlopen. In de bachelor heb ik drie jaar lang plaatsgenomen in de Evaluatiecommissie en dit is mij goed bevallen. Ik wil me opnieuw inzetten voor de opleiding, deze keer door middel van de Opleidingscommissie!
Mijn motto is: er kan altijd wat verbeterd worden. Dit kan op twee manieren. Allereerst door te kijken naar de algemene kwaliteit van de colleges op basis van de inhoud en de relevantie voor het werkveld. Ten tweede moet de focus van het onderwijs meer gaan liggen bij de praktijk. Ik hoor namelijk vaak van medestudenten dat ze de koppeling met de praktijk missen. Mijns inzien zou psychologie een studie moeten zijn waarin praktijk in hoge mate opgenomen is in het curriculum. Een voorbeeld van praktijkgericht onderwijs wat ik persoonlijk vaker terug zou willen zien is het oplossen van casussen tijdens werkgroepen. Ik denk dat op die manier studenten beter een idee krijgen hoe het is om als psycholoog aan de slag te zijn.

Hi, my name is Sophie Offeringa and I am 22 years old. In September I started the psychology healthcare master. In my spare time I like to run and sometimes I am to be found in the city on a terrace. For three years in my bachelor, I have been in the evaluation commission and it was a quite pleasant experience. For this year, I want to contribute something to the study on behalf of the DPC!
My motto: there’s always something to improve. This can be done on two different ways. First by looking at the overall quality of the lectures, especially for content and the relevance for the work field. Second there must be more educational focus in (clinical) practice. I often hear from students that they miss a link from theory to practice. In my opinion, psychology must be a study in which (clinical) practice must have a high value in the curriculum. An example for practice targeted education, which I would like to see more, is the solution of cases in workgroups. I think this will give students a better idea of how it will be as a practicing psychologist.

Extra informatie over de OLC...

Wat is de OLC?
Elke opleiding in Nederland heeft een opleidingscommissie. Hierin zitten docenten en studenten. De OLC van psychologie bestaat uit 6 docentleden (alle domeinen van de bachelor en alle master-varianten zijn vertegenwoordigd) en 6 studentleden (uit verschillende jaren, bachelor en master). Samen proberen zij de kwaliteit van het onderwijs continu te verbeteren.
Wat doet de OLC?
Voornaamste taken van de OLC zijn het evalueren van alle vakken, het bespreken van veranderingen in het curriculum (zoals bijvoorbeeld de Engelse track en nieuwe vakken als Gespreksvaardigheden) en het bespreken van eigen voorstellen voor verbeteringen door student- of docentleden ingebracht (zoals dit jaar onder andere het gebrek aan professionele vaardigheden in de bachelor en de kwaliteit van tentamens). Verder houdt de OLC zich met alle zaken bezig die met de kwaliteit van het onderwijs te maken hebben. Docenten en studenten zoeken in constructief overleg voortdurend naar oplossingen om deze te verbeteren.
Wat doe jij in de OLC?
Als student-lid vergader je een eens per 4- 6 weken met de studentenfractie van de OLC en eens per 4- 6 weken met de gehele OLC. Je leest de stukken voor de vergadering, maar je bent ook bezig met je eigen projecten. Je kunt denken aan het houden van enquêtes, overleggen met medewerkers, et cetera. Voor de functie van student-lid krijg je een jaarlijkse vergoeding.
Waarom in de OLC?
De OLC is een goede manier om je in te zetten voor je eigen opleiding. Je leert veel over de organisatie van de universiteit en zaken als kwaliteitszorg. Het is dus een leerzame en interessante ervaring en je komt eens een keer op een andere manier in contact met docenten. Bovendien is het leuk om wat nuttigs te doen voor je eigen studie en is het een goede aanvulling op je CV. Daarnaast ontvang je ook een tegemoetkoming vanuit de universiteit in de vorm van één bestuursmaand.

Additional information about the DPC...

What does the DPC?
The DPC evaluates all courses, discusses changes in the curriculum (for example the English programme and new courses as Conversational Skills) and discusses the ideas of student- or staff members to further improve the quality of both the Bachelor’s and Master programme. This year we discussed, among other things, how more professional skills could be added to the bachelor and how the quality of exams can be garantueed. The DPC is busy with all other things that are related to education quality. Staff- and student members are always in dialogue to seek for solutions that could further improve this.
What is your role in the DPC?
As a student member you will meet approximately once a month with the student members of the DPC and once a month with the whole DPC. You read the documents for the meeting, but you are also doing your own projects. These projects could consist of for example conducting surveys, consulting with staff members and many more. You will also receive a compensation as student members of the programme committee qualify for half a bestuursmaand from the Graduation Fund.
Why be a part of the DPC?
The DPC is not only a good way to improve your own degree programme, but also to get more acquainted with it. You will learn a lot about the university as an organisation and matters like quality assurance. In summary, being a part of the DPC is a very informative experience and you will connect with your teachers in a whole different way. Besides this, it is really nice to do something useful for you own education, it is a good addition to your CV and you will also receive a compensation for all of this in return.
