Grattis til GAMUT kolleger Christian og Monika for ny artikkel om MIDDEL: Music Interventions for Dementia and Depression in Elderly Care prosjektet.
📣 Main findings from MIDDEL 📣
The moment we have all been waiting for is here! Today, the main findings from the MIDDEL project were published in The Lancet Healthy Longevity. 📝✨
MIDDEL is the largest trial of music interventions in dementia care to date. A total of 1021 residents within 86 care home units in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Türkiye, and the UK were randomly assigned to Group Music Therapy (GMT), Recreational Choir Singing (RCS), both, or neither intervention. 🧠🎵
The findings show that across countries, GMT and RCS do not result in consistent improvement of depressive symptoms among care home residents with dementia in the long term. However, the interventions may be effective in the shorter term and for subgroups with moderate to severe levels of dementia. Effects varied between countries.
