Hvordan skal vi tenke helhetlig og inkluderende om byutvikling – og hva er utfordringene her for Bergen?

Håvard Haarstad presentere boken "Å studere bærekraftig byutvikling" (Fagbokforlaget, 2025). Boken gir en helhetlig innføring i bærekraftig byutvikling – fra de globale utfordringer til konkrete spørsmål om hvordan vi kan skape gode nabolag og gater.

Tanita Guldbrandsen og Maja Gloppen Norheim fra Bymiljøetaten i Bergen Kommune presentere prinsipper for universell utforming av parker, gater og byrom.

I dag var jeg med på mitt siste møte i Teknologirådet, etter åtte år. Det har vært utrolig givende og lærerikt. Først og fremst fordi det er så mange kunnskapsrike folk som er med, både i Rådet og i sekretariatet. Har alltid forlatt møtene inspirert og beriket. Også i dag.

Når jeg har nevnt til folk at jeg sitter i Teknologirådet er som regel responsen: «Du?!». Men rollen min, slik jeg har forstått og praktisert den, har ikke vært å være teknologiekspert. Det er det andre i Rådet som er. Min jobb har vært å få frem et kritisk samfunnsvitenskapelig blikk. Jeg har prøvd å peke på konsekvenser av teknologiutviklingen for demokrati, «vanlige» folk, bærekraft, klima og natur.

Jeg har fått vært med på «ekskursjoner» til Trondheim og Bergen, debattert med stortingspolitikere, sittet i ekspertgruppe om autonomi og fremtidens mobilitet i byer, og nye annet.

Håper at mitt bidrag har vært nyttig i å heve nivået på debatten rundt den teknologiske fremtiden, på Stortinget og ellers i offentlig debatt.

✨Welcome to our new CET master’s student ✨

This week we welcomed our new group of master’s student who have a workspace at the CET offices. They have settled in nicely and have met their CET mentors.

This year all 3 of our master students are in the Master of Sustainability programme.

💨Finn Corus is conducting an uncertainty assessments of the process of developing Strategic Environmental Assesments (SEIA) for offshore wind

The City Council of Bergen is planning to completely eliminate support for climate and environmental measures this year. From 10 million to 0. In comparison the city of Oslo is increasing its commitment to the same cause by 70 million.

This Wednesday, June 12th, the decision will be made in the city council. The committee for finance, culture and business will meet in City hall to decide whether to adapt the City Ciuncil’s proposal for cuts or not.

Dear citizens of Bergen! Join us outside of the City hall just before the committee meets and remind them that the climate and nature crisis is the greatest challenge of our time!

🚲Electric bicycles are the unsung hero of urban transition

🎊 This week is the week and we are celebrating CET professor ll Siddharth Sareen who is awarded the Nils Kim prize for his work in environmental social sciences.

As part of the celebrations, a textile painting is hung up in the administrative building NG5. You will find it in the Smauet cafe on the 2nd floor.

The textile painting is by artist Margrethe Brekke and features a poem by Siddharth Sareen and is a work of art-science co-production.

the title “Inclusion, Commoning, Organsing” is the mantra that emerged from the research project that enabled this collaboration, namely Responsive Organising for Low Emission Societies (ROLES), funded by JPI Climate and during 2020-2023. CET was also partner in the ROLES research project.

Be sure to pop by the cafe and take a moment to enjoy this beautiful example of art-science collaboration.
