IRSAE Summer School 2024 12th-16th August 2024 Linking science to policy

Biodiversity impacts every aspect of our daily lives. Applied ecology researchers are committed to supporting societal transformation for the sustainable use and management of biodiversity. However, the connection between science and policymaking is complex and challenging. One of the challenges is to effectively transfer knowledge and disseminate research results to bridge the gap between science and policy. The 2024 IRSAE summer school aims to understand the policy landscape as well as explore and discuss how to effectively communicate and engage in the science-policy dialogue.

Post-doc opportunity
Twelve-month contract in the the Alpine Ecology Laboratory, which is a joint research unit with 3 supervisory bodies, CNRS, USMB and UGA, whose research aims to understand the mechanisms behind biodiversity and its dynamics, to decipher its role in the functioning of socio-ecosystems, and to predict its response to anthropogenic pressures, with a focus on Alpine environments.
Brief description of the project:
The wolf is present throughout the French Alps, at varying densities. Each of the massifs it colonises has its own specific characteristics, particularly in terms of landscapes, protection status, wild prey, pastoral, hunting, forestry, tourism and recreational practices. The aim of the post-doctoral project is to understand the impact of the wolf's return to the Bauges massif on the behaviour and population dynamics of its wild prey in a highly anthropized mountain area, and the consequences of these changes on human, hunting, forestry and pastoral activities.

The application file must be sent exclusively by email to the following email address: [email protected]
The documents in the file must be contained in a single PDF file. The file must not exceed 10 MB. The file will be named in the following format: LECALOUPE_NOM_PRENOM.pdf. The candidate will receive a deposit confirmation email in return. Reception of applications until Friday 04/19/2024 - 12:00 p.m. No applications by mail will be accepted.
