Nordic Centre for Internet and Society The Nordic Centre for Internet and Society at . We explore digital technologies in work and society. Proud member of .

Bringing together a wide range of disciplines, various methodologies, and diverse viewpoints, we seek to analyse and understand the growing influence of digital technologies on working life and society. With the Nordic Centre for Internet and Society, we hope to serve as a discussion platform for the impact of the Internet and related digital technologies on people in the context of work and work-

like settings. We aim to serve the public interest and allow both policymakers and company executives to foster a sustainable digital economy which prepares the next generations for the workplaces of the future. We strive to combine rigorous and applicable empirical research with conceptual and theoretical approaches which are at the forefront of current academic discussions. We engage in theory building, theory testing, and applying these theories to current developments. We feature a range of theoretical perspectives and are characterised by methodological and conceptual pluralism. As a think-and-do-centre, we aim to bring together leading scholars and practitioners from Norway, Scandinavia, and the rest of the world to explore the re-invention of work and organizing in a digital, networked, and media-rich environment. At the same time, it is our ambition to be part of a global community of researchers who study the manifold impacts which Internet and digital communication technologies have on the way we work, interact, and lead our daily lives. We aim to create a tight loop between rigorous research, teaching, and practical engagement, helping us to inform, test, and share our ideas, while allowing us to reach entrepreneurs and policy makers, innovators and researchers, technologists and users

Les mer her: https://lnkd.in/gEMrFpz

//In order to investigate how individual and collaborative job crafting may help digital labourers to build resilience and career commitment in the gig economy, Sut I Wong, Dominique Kost, PhD and Christian Fieseler have found answers based on a time-lagged survey from 334 digital labourers in the paper “From crafting what you do to building resilience for career commitment in the gig economy». They found that those who engaged in higher individual job crafting reported subsequently higher resilience on the outset. Moreover, high collaborative job crating compensated for low individual crating efforts in reaching higher resilience and subsequently higher career commitment. I artikkelen ‘Algorithmic Surveillance in the Gig Economy: The Organization of Work through Lefebvrian Conceived Space’, utforsker Gemma Newlands hvordan matleveringsplattformer begrenser organisasjonskunnskap når de stoler for mye på det oppfattede rom av algoritmisk overvåkning, det vil si den virtuelle virkeligheten generert av datainnsamling, imens de ignorerer opplevd og erfart rom i form av den materielle realiteten til arbeiderne. In the paper ‘Algorithmic Surveillance in the Gig Economy: The Organization of Work through Lefebvrian Conceived Space’, Gemma Newlands explores how food delivery platforms restrict their organizational knowledge when relying too heavily on the conceived space of algorithmic surveillance, namely the virtual reality generated by data capture, while neglecting perceived and lived space in the form of the material embodied reality of the workers.
