Gunnerus Sustainability Science Award The prize is awarded every two years.

The Gunnerus Award in Sustainability Science promotes science that ensures an effective transition to global sustainable development through groundbreaking policies, societal models or technologies. The Gunnerus Award is a collaboration between the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (DKNVS) – Norway’s oldest scientific institution and the original founder of the prize, and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology – Norway’s largest university.

The Gunnerus Award in Sustainability Science for 2021 goes to professor Jianguo (Jack) Liu. Congratulations! Professor Liu holds the Rachel Carson Chair in Sustainability at Michigan State University, USA, and receives the award for his outstanding scientific work.

Johan Ernst Gunnerus (1718-1773) was a pioneer in Norwegian scientific history. He founded the first Norwegian scientific society (DKNVS) in 1760 and started the first scientific journal in Norway in 1761. Professor Sandra M. Díaz from Argentina was awarded the prize for her work in biodiversity in 2019. Now it's time to nominate your candidate!
