We are searching for students with the courage to push the boundaries of art; students who are ready to take risks; who try, together with us, to understand what it means to be in this world and respond to today’s urgencies and inequalities with the means of art. We are searching for students who aren´t afraid of cross-pollination between academic domains; students who strive to explore artistic intelligences and put a multiplicity of practices into motion. In the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, we focus on artistic research and artistic entrepreneurship as an extension of studio practice, and as an undertaking of acting together to inspire people to tackle the challenges society faces. We argue for an artistic agency that involves and engages new combinations across disciplines and sectors and new forms of cooperation among researchers and artists—theory, culture and technologies. As resistance against monocultures.

KUNO Biennial 2025 — VENTURE COLLECTIVE

We welcome you to the second KUNO Biennial on October 10th – 19th and vernissage on October 9th from 5pm till 8pm.

VENTURE COLLECTIVE is playing with associations to the start-up term Venture Capital, which evokes economic playgrounds of risk investment and speculation, we want to twist and challenge the understanding of the capitalist value system and instead emphasize a socially ventured value creation. To frame a space that faces the economic realities we are living in, while imagining alternative and collaborative ways of venturing——reflected in multiple artistic approaches and forms.

Participating artists:
Denis Kudrjašov (Estonian Academy of Arts), Mari Skousen (Funen Art Academy), Katja Kristola & Viola Johansson (HDK-Valand), Shannon Felländer-Tsai (HDK-Valand), Anna Filippa Moberg (Malmo Art Academy), Ronja Sinisalo & Tiia-Unia Moisio & Esteri Lovisa Suomalainen (Turku University of Applied Sciences), Linus Starbäck (University of Bergen), Gustė Kripaitė (Vilnius Academy of Arts), Vladimiras Mackevichius (Vilnius Academy of Arts), Yangyang Zhou (Umeå Academy of Fine Arts), Marie E. Preston (Trondheim Academy of Fine Art), Tor-Ada Solberg (Trondheim Academy of Fine Art), Yi Ten Lai & Sara Björg (The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts).

Open Oct 10th – 19th

OPENING TOMORROW IN GALLERI KIT AT 18:00

——

——

Sensommer (Late summer) marks a time of transition and renewal – a season shaped by both return and beginning.
For some, it carries an echo of melancholy; for others, it offers a chance for renewal.

The exhibition doesn’t follow a single theme, but shares a common starting point: the school as an underlying framework we all relate to in some way.

The Sensommer Exhibition features new works by 31 students across year levels and media at KIT, marking the beginning of a new academic year.

New Nature Poetics - Exhibiting Artists

Marc Traian Pricop (b. 1993, Tasmania) documents plastic cleanup along the Norwegian coast in Sea, Sand & Plastic, based on his experiences as a coastal renovator. His photographs depict landscapes and plastic pollution in Northern Norway and Svalbard, juxtaposing human impact with deep geological time.

Exhibition opening: May 24 at 18:30
Artist talk: May 28 at 13:00
