In relation to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 30th anniversary next year, the editorial staff in BARN are planning a special issue with the title ‘Children’s rights in a Nordic context – 30 years with the UNCRC’
In this special issue, we call for papers on children’s rights in a Nordic context, from various theoretical, methodological and thematical approaches. The special issues overall goal is to learn more about, and critically reflect upon, policy and practice connected to the implementation of the UNCRC in the Nordic countries today. This includes studies about children’s rights in the everyday life; in the family, in ECEC (early childhood education and care), in school, and during leisure time. Furthermore, this also includes a rights perspective on children’s encounters with the public; in child welfare, in health care, within the immigration system and in correctional services. Last, but not least, it includes research on how children’s rights are secured at society level; in political decisions, legislation and practice embodiments.
