Aotearoa’s only dental school is sinking its teeth into sustainability 🦷✨

Over the past year, the Faculty of Dentistry’s Sustainable Working Group started implementing a variety of initiatives as part of a new sustainability strategy to reduce the environmental footprint of its clinical and teaching activities 🪥

“We knew we wanted to be at the forefront of research and innovation in sustainable dentistry, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies in how we operate,” Associate Professor Carolina Loch says.

Some rock 'n' roll dreams start at Otago 🎸✨

After finishing high school in 1980, Nick Sampson told his parents he had no plans for future study. He’d been offered a place in a local punk rock band and was planning a career in music.

He soon changed his mind when he saw how many local bands were playing in Ōtepoti and he decided to enrol at Otago 🧑‍🎤

It was here that he started the band Netherworld Dancing Toys with friends and fellow students. What was once a dream became a reality, from studio albums and tours to hitting the Aotearoa music charts 🤟
