Earlier this week, we celebrated Spring Graduation at the University of Canterbury! 🎓

Graduation is a special milestone, a time to reflect on the journey, celebrate achievements, and look ahead to the impact our graduates will make in their communities and beyond. 🌏❤️

Congratulations, we are so proud of our UC Arts whānau.

Third-year Bachelor of Communication students have taken their skills global! 🌏

COMS330, students teamed up with the Embassies of France and Germany to create social media campaigns for two international science diplomacy projects — including the HALO-South research mission and the One Ocean Science Congress.
Teams pitched their ideas directly to diplomats and international researchers, with two standout campaigns selected by the embassies to move forward for further development 👏

We’re proud of the creativity and communication skills on display, and grateful to Dr Tara Ross and Professor Natalia Chaban for leading this opportunity.

Over four awesome days in June, our UC Arts Department of Global, Cultural and Language Studies' hosted NCEA Immersion Days for Spanish, Japanese, German, and French! 🌍

With over 1,200 students from Canterbury high schools joining us on campus, the days were packed with interactive workshops, NCEA preparation sessions, and an exciting glimpse into where language learning at UC can take you.

Huge thanks to our amazing staff, student volunteers, and all the schools who took part, we loved having you here! 🧡

✨ Mānawatia a Matariki me Puaka ✨
As the stars return we reflect on our journey, where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going.
For our UC Arts whānau, it’s also a moment to embrace creativity, storytelling, community, and identity.

We had an awesome afternoon last Thursday celebrating 100,000 visitors to the Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities with Festa di Strada, a family-friendly Italian style street party hosted at our City Campus within The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora! 🎉

With over 300 visitors joining us to celebrate for the afternoon, the day was a huge success! We had amazing musical entertainment thanks to our Performance Music students, Kyle Hsieh and Lila Nicholson. We were joined by Base Food By Fire and Gelato Dolce Christchurch who provided our guests with some delicious Italian treats! And of course, we had the Teece Museum open for everyone to explore, as well as an awesome kids activity around the Art Centre!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and a big congratulations to our Teece team for reaching this exciting milestone 👏🍕🎶

Our Creative Writing: Eco-Lit in the Field Summer School class took a trip out to Kura Tawhiti, Castle Hill and UC’s Cass Field Station last week to learn more about the history of these unique landscapes to inspire their writing around the environment, landforms and lifeforms. Big thanks to Dr Angus McIntosh and Dr Helen Warburton from UC Science for guiding us through the fascinating landscape at Cass, sharing their knowledge from their ecology backgrounds! 🍃🌏✍️
