We’re all about giving the next generation opportunities to explore where they can make a difference.

Recently, we welcomed Year 11–13 students to campus to explore Environmental Planning and see how their passion for the environment could translate into a meaningful career.

Through hands-on workshops and conversations with professionals from the New Zealand Planning Institute, they gained real insight into what a future in planning can look like.

Know a young person who’s keen to make an impact? This could be a pathway worth exploring.

Jennifer Kerr, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Te Raupapa – Waikato Management School, explains why we developed Leading with AI: The Strategy Roadmap, and the gap it’s designed to address for senior leaders.

Looking for something meaningful for your young person to do during the school holidays?

We run hands-on STEM experience days right here on campus where senior secondary students can step into real study areas and see what university learning feels like.

During the April holidays, we welcomed students into:
🔬 Experience Engineering
🌊 Marine Science Student for a Day
💻 Discover CS: Computer Science & Software

It was great to see curiosity turn into confidence as students explored future study and career pathways in action.

Missed out this time? More STEM experience events are coming in the July school holidays at both our Hamilton and Tauranga campuses.

We are incredibly proud that our Chancellor, Susan Hassall, has been named a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit today for services to education.

Dame Susan has dedicated her life to education and leadership and has positively impacted generations of learners over an almost 50-year career.

Dame Susan is a passionate advocate for education and is deeply committed to the University. While one of the most public roles for the Chancellor is celebrating the momentous occasion of graduation with our students and recognising all they have achieved, much of the work that Dame Susan undertakes for the University is generally unseen.

Dame Susan also supports the work of Hospice Waikato, the New Zealand Teaching Council, Momentum Waikato and the University Foundation, and volunteers a significant amount of her own time to ensuring the success of TANZOS.
Congratulations Dame Susan on this incredible honour, and thank you for all that you have done, and continue to do, for the University and our students.
