This week we were delighted to host Marlborough Girls' College for our annual sporting exchange, with teams competing in netball, hockey, and football.

These exchanges are about much more than results. They provide valuable opportunities for students to challenge themselves against quality opposition, build friendships, and represent their schools with pride. It was fantastic to see such great sportsmanship, determination, and camaraderie displayed throughout the day.

Results:
🏐 Senior B Netball: MGC 43 def Waimea 21
🏐 Senior A Netball: MGC 26 def Waimea 22
🏑 1st XI Hockey: MGC 3 def Waimea 0
⚽ 1st XI Football: 0–0 Draw

The football fixture was a particularly exciting contest, with both teams creating numerous chances in a closely fought match that remained scoreless but was highly competitive from start to finish.

A huge thank you to Marlborough Girls' College for making the trip over the hill and contributing to another successful exchange. We would also like to acknowledge our coaches, managers, officials, and supporters whose time and commitment make these opportunities possible for our students.

Congratulations to all players involved for the way they represented their schools both on and off the field. We look forward to continuing this valued sporting tradition when we travel to Marlborough next year.

It has been a busy few weeks for sport at Waimea College, and one of the highlights was hosting Cashmere High School for our annual exchange.

More than just a series of fixtures, the exchange is an opportunity for students to build friendships, reconnect with familiar faces, and experience the outstanding sportsmanship and camaraderie that has made this tradition so special since 1959.

This year, Waimea claimed victory on the basketball court, while Cashmere took the honours in netball, boys' football, girls' football, and hockey. With the schools having been level on Shield victories prior to this year's exchange, Cashmere now move one ahead in the overall tally.

A huge thank you to all the families who hosted students, along with our coaches, managers, officials, staff, and supporters. Your generosity, time, and commitment make opportunities like this possible and help create memories and connections that last well beyond the final whistle.

Congratulations to all students who represented their schools with pride. We look forward to continuing this proud tradition when we travel to Christchurch next year!

🏆 WAIMEA COLLEGE SPORTS ROUND-UP | KING'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND 🏆

Congratulations to the many Waimea College students and alumni who proudly represented Nelson/Tasman over King's Birthday weekend across a range of sports.

Netball
A special well done to Sophie Vercoe (Nelson Blue) and Shelby Staufer and Maddy Tolson (Nelson Gold), who represented the region at the U16 representative tournament.

Basketball
Congratulations to Larz Wadsworth, who represented Nelson in the U20 Men's team alongside Waimea College alumni Jerome Sinclair and Hayden Jones. The team finished an impressive 3rd overall, with Hayden earning selection in the Tournament Team.

A huge congratulations also to Waimea College alumni Ava Jones, who was named Tournament MVP while helping Canterbury claim the U20 Women's title.

Volleyball
Waimea College was exceptionally well represented at the New Zealand Interprovincial Volleyball Championships in Wellington.

U17 Girls Silver Medallists:
Fleur Wellmeyer, Georgia Shone and Hayley Bortner.

U17 Boys (5th):
Lachie Wheeler, James Biggs, Cooper Hope and Jacob Heath.

U19 Girls (4th):
Ashlee Shone, Holly Shone, Maddie Seymour and Courtney du Plessis.

U19 Boys (4th):
Cole Clarke, Quinn Heiford, Jack Hammon, Zac Shirley and Lex Appleby.

Open Men (7th):
Alumni Jobe McAuley and Seb Lams, along with Senior A Boys Assistant Coach Ben Blakemore.

Special congratulations to Georgia Shone and Holly Shone, who were both named in their respective Tournament Teams.

Indoor Cricket
Well done to Kane Sixtus and Ashleigh Sixtus, who represented Nelson at the South Island Indoor Cricket Championships in Christchurch. Kane's team finished 2nd overall, while Ashleigh's team secured 3rd place.

We are incredibly proud of all our students and alumni who represented their region with pride, commitment and sportsmanship. Your achievements continue to showcase the strength of sport at Waimea College.

Yesterday we had a Senior Mixed team taking part in the Tasman Secondary Schools Ki o Rahi tournament. Well done to everyone involved, our students had a fantastic day. A big thanks to Nayland College for hosting and to Sport Tasman for organising

Well done to Noah Eden who competed in Seddon at the Tasman Schools road cycling event on Saturday and won the U17 Boys time trial and road race (fastest time overall in both events), the next day he then went on to compete at the Cable Bay Shoe Clinic Mountain biking Duathlon where he was the overall winner in the Short Course.
