🏆 WAIMEA COLLEGE SPORTS ROUND-UP | KING'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND 🏆
Congratulations to the many Waimea College students and alumni who proudly represented Nelson/Tasman over King's Birthday weekend across a range of sports.
Netball
A special well done to Sophie Vercoe (Nelson Blue) and Shelby Staufer and Maddy Tolson (Nelson Gold), who represented the region at the U16 representative tournament.
Basketball
Congratulations to Larz Wadsworth, who represented Nelson in the U20 Men's team alongside Waimea College alumni Jerome Sinclair and Hayden Jones. The team finished an impressive 3rd overall, with Hayden earning selection in the Tournament Team.
A huge congratulations also to Waimea College alumni Ava Jones, who was named Tournament MVP while helping Canterbury claim the U20 Women's title.
Volleyball
Waimea College was exceptionally well represented at the New Zealand Interprovincial Volleyball Championships in Wellington.
U17 Girls Silver Medallists:
Fleur Wellmeyer, Georgia Shone and Hayley Bortner.
U17 Boys (5th):
Lachie Wheeler, James Biggs, Cooper Hope and Jacob Heath.
U19 Girls (4th):
Ashlee Shone, Holly Shone, Maddie Seymour and Courtney du Plessis.
U19 Boys (4th):
Cole Clarke, Quinn Heiford, Jack Hammon, Zac Shirley and Lex Appleby.
Open Men (7th):
Alumni Jobe McAuley and Seb Lams, along with Senior A Boys Assistant Coach Ben Blakemore.
Special congratulations to Georgia Shone and Holly Shone, who were both named in their respective Tournament Teams.
Indoor Cricket
Well done to Kane Sixtus and Ashleigh Sixtus, who represented Nelson at the South Island Indoor Cricket Championships in Christchurch. Kane's team finished 2nd overall, while Ashleigh's team secured 3rd place.
We are incredibly proud of all our students and alumni who represented their region with pride, commitment and sportsmanship. Your achievements continue to showcase the strength of sport at Waimea College.
