The University of Waikato has been active in the Bay of Plenty region since the 1990s, when it first formed an alliance with the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic (now Toi Ohomai) to facilitate teaching in the Western Bay of Plenty. This was the first time the University provided face-to-face learning outside of Hamilton. In 2001, the University’s first cohort of students in the Bay of Plenty graduated in

Tauranga Moana kaimahi haerenga ki te Koroneihana🌿
Our Tauranga staff were lucky to attend Koroneihana as part of our Te Aurei staff development programme.
We were welcomed onto Tūrangawaewae with a pōhiri, followed by a tour and a day of learning, connection and whakawhanaungatanga.
We’re grateful to have the Te Aurei programme here in Tauranga, organised by Tahangawari.
A big mihi to Taha and Koro Tamati for making sure we were all looked after throughout the day ❤️

Today we held our inaugural Law Sprint ⚖️✨

This year’s challenge was Reimagining Access to Justice in Tauranga. Teams stepped into the role of junior legal consultants, engaging with community and professional stakeholders across three interactive stations to explore the challenge and develop innovative solutions.

The day culminated in team pitches and questions from our judging panel, with judges from Holland Beckett and Tompkins Wake .

A huge congratulations to all the teams for their creativity, collaboration and fresh thinking. What an incredible first Law Sprint! 👏
