Dear friends,
Thank you so much for your perseverance and patience. We, at last, have results regarding our conversation with the people in charge of arranging the Internship in Arequipa; as well as the Medical Rotations and Spanish courses.
We have gotten in contact with two of the most important universities in our city. One is a private university and the other one is a state university. Both teach the professional careers of Medicine and Psychology.
At both universities, a very important pre requisite must be met, which is having knowledge of the Spanish language at an intermediate level, in order to achieve fluent communication with the medical staff working at the hospitals, as well as with patients and fellow students. And so, among the required califications is a certificate stating intermediate dominion of the Spanish language.
In case there is a desire to perfect or improve the Spanish skills required, students can come to Arequipa and take a Spanish course in several official academies in place in the city. Once this step has been completed, their internship or rotation can begin.
At the private university, a fee of $100 a month is required for the internship. Some hospitals also charge a monthly $100 fee for this purpose. The state university has not specified fee established for internships. This information will be confirmed directly when you communicate with these Institutions.
If a established educational exchange agreement is in place between both universities, the student can enjoy the benefits in place.
The international student can only officially have access to an internship in one of the hospitals if an existing agreement with one of the universities is in place. Please be advised that as time goes by this terms are subject to change.
As this process required time for the universities to review and either approve or reject the application, it is important to me sure all qualifications and requisites are met, and we will oversee their completion from Arequipa.
If the German student is interested in an unofficial internship at a hospital, they can opt for a rotation and there would be no additional fee. It’s important to mention that as a medical doctor and a specialist in obstetrics we have a large network of contacts that will facilitate the process of applying to an unofficial practice.
Our only condition is that you remain lodge in our home for the period of the internship or rotation, and if you are agree let’s start working together. The reasons are obvious.
"The whole process, effort and guidance from us go with our best intentions and is not refundable. It is also important to know that our profits are minimal since the cost of accommodation in our home is very low compared to the cost that many hotels and lodgings accommodation charge per day. Again we remind you that we have a daughter who is completing his master degree in Psychology in Germany and through it we have learned to love and respect the German culture.
As parents we want to give you this opportunity to perform and to achieve this wonderful adventure, learn our language and our culture. We hope to find good friends and learn a lot more of you and of their quality as people.
So, feel like you are part of our family, that you have a good experience and that you take advantage of all the opportunities Peru has to offer. And as such, you will gain a second family in Peru whom will ensure your experience is rich and fruitful.
