Natalia Jorquera is a Chilean architect with a PhD in Architectural Technology. She is associate professor at the Department of Architecture of the Universidad de La Serena-Chile and coordinator of the Research Center in Earthen Architecture and Heritage-CIATYP of the same university. She is also the Director of the Architecture Studio ARQUITIKA. Natalia Jorquera has worked in several restoration and seismic retrofitting projects of Chilean adobe historical buildings; besides, she has conducted several researches about vernacular and earthen heritage conservation, from which she has written two books, several chapters and scientific papers. She is member of PROTERRA Iberian-American network, ICOMOS Chile and ISCEAH, where she is the chair of the seismic sub-committee.
Elena De Santis is a qualified architect with a Masters Degree, specialised in Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Heritage and Landscape. She has been extensively researching on the valorisation and dissemination of vernacular earthen heritage and currently she is a PhD candidate at La Sapienza University, in partnership with University La Serena, Chile. She works in the international cooperation as a conservation architect and she has been involved in design and restoration projects in Italy, Iran, Portugal, Kosovo, KSA, Chile. She is member of Terrae ODV and ISCEAH.
