Last Friday afternoon, following our morning seminar, the WPU-SSC gathered the student body for our Semi-Annual General Assembly โ an important opportunity to reflect on our journey so far, share our accomplishments, and most importantly, listen to the voices of the students we serve.
The program began with the presentation of committee reports, where each committee head shared their milestones, ongoing initiatives, and future plans. It was a moment of transparency and accountability, showing exactly how your student council has been working for you.
First to present was the Student Welfare Committee, led by Councilor Lance Rey Alba, who highlighted efforts and initiatives focused on addressing student concerns and promoting the general well-being of every WPUan.
Next, Councilor Jc Hanape of the Program Committee walked everyone through the events we have successfully organized, as well as the exciting activities lined up for the coming months.
Following this, the Public Relations Officer Committee was presented by Councilor Kezia Keren Dela Rosa, who shared how the council has been keeping everyone informed, bridging the gap between the SSC and the student body through our various information channels.
The Audit Committee, represented by Councilor John Mark Albarico, delivered a report on the transparency and proper documentation of the councilโs operations, ensuring that all our actions remain accountable to the students.
The Finance Committee, under the care of Councilor Christian Rabao, provided a clear overview of the councilโs financial status, income, and expenditures โ because every student has the right to know how resources are being managed.
Last to report was the Secretariat Committee, presented by Councilor Kristine Tumlos, who shared updates on official records, meeting minutes, and the overall administrative organization of the council.
After the committee reports, SSC President Marck Renniel Castillo took the floor for the Pres Talk, where he laid out key project plans and policy updates the council is pushing forward.
On safety, he shared his propose project plan the proper road signage and speed limit markers within the campus premises, aimed at ensuring the safety of every student, staff, and visitor moving around our school grounds.
He also discussed updates on the Attendance Points System, along with the introduction of SSC Printing Services โ a student-centered initiative intended to provide accessible printing support for academic needs.
Most importantly, President Castillo clarified the guidelines on Attendance Exceptions: moving forward, students who are parents, working students, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and those with valid excuses supported by a proper letter will be granted appropriate consideration regarding attendance requirements. This policy, he emphasized, is designed to be fair and compassionate, recognizing that our students come from different circumstances and carry different responsibilities.
The assembly then opened its doors to the students themselves during the Open Forum. It was a meaningful exchange where students freely raised their concerns, asked questions, and offered suggestions โ all of which were acknowledged and addressed. Your voice matters, and we are always listening.
The afternoon continued with a heartfelt moment as we conducted the distribution of relief goods to our SSC Scholars. This small gesture is our way of standing with you, especially in difficult times. We want you to know that you are supported, and your dreams are worth fighting for.
To cap off the event, Certificates of Appreciation were presented to individuals and groups who have generously supported and participated in our activities. Your partnership makes our work possible, and for that, we are truly grateful.
This Semi-Annual General Assembly has reminded us that we are more than just a council โ we are a community working together toward a better WPU. Thank you to every student who took the time to be there. Letโs keep moving forward, hand in hand, toward greater things.
