They call it 𝗣𝗮𝘅 Silica, but there is 𝗻𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 in displacement.

The Letran Bataan Collegiate Student Council In steadfast solidarity with the student governments of Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Manila, Calamba, and Manaoag stands firmly against the Pax Silica initiative and the social and environmental injustices it brings to our shores.

Here in Central Luzon, we are at the very doorstep of this so-called "progress." While foreign entities and billionaires promise economic booms and technological advancement, the reality on the ground tells a much darker story: the aggressive extraction of our natural resources, the looming threat of severe water shortages, and the unjust displacement of our local farmers and indigenous communities.

How can we call it "peace" (Pax) when it strips our people of their homes, their livelihood, and their sovereign rights? Development that sacrifices the marginalized to serve foreign-led AI and mining infrastructures is not true progress rather it is a systemic exploitation.

We echo the unified call of the youth: There is no peace without justice. We demand the protection of our lands, our waters, and our people!

They call it “𝗣𝗮𝘅” Silica, but there is 𝗻𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 in displacement.

The proposed Pax Silica Project promises high-tech innovation, but behind the corporate buzzwords lies a harsh reality: agricultural lands swallowed, up to 130 million liters of water drained daily, and the ancestral domains of the Aeta community put at severe risk. They offer 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻, but they are stealing 𝘀𝗼𝗶𝗹.

During a recent visit to the 𝗔𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻, student leaders witnessed firsthand that the land is far more than mere real estate—it is the community’s food, culture, and life.

𝗣𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 as national growth is fake progress. A "smart city" cannot be built on the foolish sacrifice of human lives, natural resources, and Philippine sovereignty.

Guided by the principles of 𝗗𝗲𝘂𝘀, 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮, 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻, the student governments of Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Manila, Calamba, Manaoag, and Bataan stand united with the farmers and Indigenous Peoples of Central Luzon.
