MANILA, Philippines — 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗗. 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼, Museum Curator of the 𝗝𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗗. 𝗡𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗼 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 (CKS) of Holy Angel University (HAU), accepted the Best Permanent Exhibit Award for the Manansala Gallery during the inaugural ANG MUSEO Awards of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines on October 22, 2026, at the National Museum of Natural History in Manila.

In his acceptance speech, Castro emphasized the significance of receiving national recognition for CKS’s efforts to preserve and promote Kapampangan cultural heritage.

“𝙄𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖—𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙖 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙨—𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩—𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙩, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙘!”
he said.

Castro also expressed gratitude to the Manansala family for giving CKS the first option to acquire the Manansala Collection, allowing the works of renowned Kapampangan artist Vicente Manansala, fondly known as Mang Enteng, to have a permanent home in Angeles City.

Aside from the Best Permanent Exhibit award for the Manansala Gallery, CKS also received the 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱, securing two major honors at the inaugural ceremony.

Her message emphasized that the recognition extends beyond the institution, honoring every Kapampangan who supports the preservation, protection, and study of the province’s rich cultural heritage.

MANILA, Philippines — The Holy Angel University–Center for Kapampangan Studies (HAU-CKS) won two major awards at the inaugural Ang Museo Awards organized by the Museum Foundation of the Philippines on October 22, 2026, at the National Museum.
HAU-CKS received recognition in two categories: Best Permanent Exhibit for the Manansala Gallery and Best Educational Museum Institution. The inaugural awards night recognized outstanding achievements in the museum sector, with winners announced across 10 categories.

Leading the university delegation was HAU President Mr. Leopoldo Jaime N. Valdes, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Nanette Valdes.

The CKS team was represented by Ms. Myra P. Lopez, CKS Associate Director; Alex D. Castro, CKS Museum Curator; Leonardo Calma Jr., CKS Multimedia Staff; and Justine G. Cayetano, CKS Research Staff. They were also joined by former CKS Director Mr. Robert P. Tantingco.

The double recognition underscores HAU-CKS’s continuing commitment to preserving, promoting, and safeguarding Kapampangan history, culture, and heritage through research, education, and museum initiatives.

The achievement marks a significant milestone for Holy Angel University and the Kapampangan community, reaffirming the importance of cultural preservation and the promotion of Kapampangan identity for future generations.
