𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨’ 𝙍𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨!
As stated in our previous statement, we at URS Angono Campus strongly condemn all forms of red-tagging—not only against every URS student, but also against young individuals who continue to use their voices to fight for the welfare, rights, and interests of the greater community.
As the only campus offering a Journalism program, we, as students, refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice. We will continue to stand for truth, uphold accountability, and amplify the voices that deserve to be heard. Activism must never be equated with terrorism. Exercising one’s right to speak, criticize, and demand accountability is never a crime.
We also call on the University Administration to do better and take immediate action in ensuring the safety, protection, and welfare of all students within the institution. Educational spaces must remain safe environments where students are free to express themselves without fear of intimidation, harassment, discrimination, or threats.
Any form of 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 and has no place in an academic institution that upholds democracy, academic freedom, and human rights. As members of the URS community, we must continue to embody our University’s motto and core values: 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬’𝙨 𝙉𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙩 and 𝙍𝙄𝙎𝙀𝙎 — 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮.
As Iskolar ng Bayan, we carry the social responsibility to speak out against injustices, call out wrongdoing, and stand firmly for truth, accountability, and the protection of every student’s rights and freedoms.
We call on the University Administration to uphold academic freedom and ensure that our university remains a safe space for critical thinking, responsible discourse, and democratic expression. Now more than ever, we must stand united in defending students’ rights, protecting freedom of expression, and fostering an environment where every voice can be heard without fear.
