As the BS Agriculture Internship Program (May–June 2026) commences, the College of Agriculture of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – North La Union Campus extends its sincerest gratitude to its valued Host Training Establishments (HTEs) for warmly accommodating its student interns.

The support of partner institutions, including time, expertise, and resources, enables students to undergo meaningful, hands-on training and real-world agricultural exposure. Through this collaboration, interns are expected to strengthen their competencies, deepen their understanding of agricultural practices, and enhance their readiness for the profession.

The College acknowledges the vital role of its HTE partners in shaping competent and responsible future agriculturists, as the internship program officially gets underway.

Pulses are a subgroup of legumes, packed with nutrients and harvested for their delicious dried seeds. They include familiar favorites like beans, chickpeas and peas, but there’s a whole world of pulse types to explore!

All come with great benefits for food security, nutrition and health as well as ecosystems. Pulses are more than just nutritious seeds, they also contribute to achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular those pertaining to food security and nutrition, health, sustainable consumption and production and climate change.

The low environmental footprint of producing pulses should make them an attractive option for consumers. Including pulses in farming systems (e.g. intercropping, mixed farming systems, and agroforestry) can help producers to increase farm productivity, resilience, crop diversity and enable consumers to access affordable and nutritious plant-based proteins and other nutrients.

Building on the success of the International Year of Pulses in 2016, which observance was facilitated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations General Assembly designated 10 February as World Pulses Day.
World Pulses Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the vital role pulses play in our diets, agrifood systems and livelihoods.

JUST IN l Howard T. Lacaden, a 4th year BS Agriculture student of DMMMSU-NLUC College of Agriculture ranks 4th place in the National Kabataang Organic Agriculture Quiz Bee.

He represented Ilocos Region and competed with representatives from the 15 regions in the Philippines. He recieved a cash price worth P 15,000.00.

He was joined his coach, Mr. Lloyd Adrian Lucena, faculty of the College of Agriculture and assisted by Ms. Galilee L. Padua, Development Officer 1 of ATI-Ilocos Region.
