π‹πŽπŽπŠ: Fourth-year Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) students have officially begun their off-campus internship on public and special libraries, March 17, under the guidance of program head Ms. Jimiveve Tamon, RL.

One group of interns was deployed at the Provincial Library of Negros Occidental (public library) headed by Ms. Raia Tiongson, RL, while the other group was deployed at the Regional Trial Court Library (special library) headed by Ms. Amalia Gepullano, RL.

The interns will render 100 hours in each library before switching with the other group, completing a total of 200 hours over the course of the semester. During this time, interns will be immersed in actual library work in public and specialized sectors that will help them gain practical knowledge and skills.

Following their on-campus practicum which focused on school and academic libraries, this will further enhance their development as future librarians, as well as prepare them for the actual workforce as they near the completion of the BLIS program.

May this off-campus internship be a fruitful steppingstone for these soon to be librarians. Godspeed interns, and may the odds be ever in your favor! ✨

ππ”π‹π‹π„π“πˆπ | AYL Joins LRC Staff in Celebrating Christmas Party

In celebration of the holiday season, the Alliance of Young Librarians (AYL) and the Learning Resource Center (LRC) staff and student assistants came together for a joint christmas party held yesterday, December 18.

The festive spirit of the holidays decked the halls of the library as students and staff got together for a cozy karaoke session before competing in a series of fun mini-games which filled the air with lively cheers and laughter.

'Tis indeed the season of giving as the christmas party ended with a gift-giving segment wherein LRC student assistants received christmas gifts from the LRC staff in appreciation of all the hard work and contribution they put to the library.

The joint christmas party also marked the end of the first semester, making the event more meaningful as students and staff capped off the semester on a celebratory note while at the same time keeping a positive outlook for the new year and new semester that lies ahead.

Happy holidays, everyone! ✨🎁
