ADVISORY

Face-to-face classes at all levels are suspended today, September 10, 2026.

All classes are advised to shift to online instructional modalities to ensure the continuity of learning.

Scheduled college orientations are also postponed. Concerned students are advised to wait for further announcements from their respective Colleges.

Non-teaching personnel shall report for work today under flexible working hours. University offices will remain open to provide essential services and assistance to students, faculty, and other stakeholders.

Everyone is advised to exercise appropriate caution and to remain guided by official university announcements.

ALTERNATIVE WORK ARRANGEMENTS FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICES, ALTERNATIVE LEARNING MODES FOR SCHOOLS ON SEPTEMBER 10

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 135, government offices are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements in the National Capital Region and the following provinces on September 10, 2026, in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the cumulative effects of prolonged rainfall:

📍 Bataan
📍 Bulacan
📍 Pampanga
📍 Zambales
📍 Batangas
📍 Cavite
📍 Laguna

Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives, alternative learning modes for classes at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas.

Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers placed under alternative work arrangements shall be paid their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management. - PCO

University of the Cordilleras (UC) Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship student Aprilia U. Del Rosario emerged as Champion and received the Most Innovative Business Idea Award at the 2026 Regional Youth Business Pitch Competition held on September 4, 2026, at The Orchard Hotel, Baguio City.

The competition served as the culminating activity of the YEP! You Can Be Your Own Boss Training-Workshop, conducted from September 1 to 4, 2026, under Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees).

The four-day regional development initiative was organized through the collaborative partnership of the Department of Trade and Industry–Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) and the Commission on Higher Education–Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR).

𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐈𝐂𝐒𝐈𝐅𝐓

Three student researchers from the University of the Cordilleras earned the Best Paper Presenter award at the 3rd International Conference on Sustainability, Innovation, and Future Technologies (ICSIFT) held in August, 2026, in Boracay.

BS Computer Science students Lucci Ania Luisse Fagela, Clarisse Jay Grace, and Marie Fiona Velasquez received the recognition for their presentation of the study “An XGBoost-XAI Model for Landslide Susceptibility Prediction Using Geospatial Data in Benguet Province.” The students were mentored by their thesis adviser, Dr. Joan Peralta.

The study explores the use of Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to improve landslide susceptibility prediction and support disaster risk reduction efforts in Benguet Province.

The students presented their study during Technical Session 3: Engineering and Innovative Technologies, where it was recognized for its contribution to the use of emerging technologies in addressing environmental and disaster-related concerns.

Joining the UC delegation during the award ceremony were Dr. Thelma D. Palaoag, UC Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Institutional Planning, and Dr. Gabriel De Guzman, a faculty presenter from the College of Business Administration, along with representatives and organizers from Zep Research.

Organized by Zep Research in collaboration with higher education institutions in the Philippines, the two-day international conference brought together scholars, researchers, and industry experts to present innovations in sustainability, emerging technologies, and social innovation.

The University of the Cordilleras (UC) launched its Doctor of Information Technology with specialization in Geoinformatics for Natural Hazards for School Year 2026–2027 on September 5, 2026, at the UC Theatre. The new program strengthens UC’s commitment to advancing technology-driven solutions for natural hazards and disaster resilience.

Dr. Sergio P. Molina of University of Alicante, Spain, presented the overview of Project DIGIHAZ (Digital Transformation for Natural Hazards) as an international higher education and research collaboration funded under the EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package – Higher Education Programme (SCOPE-HE). Led by the University of Alicante in Spain, the project brings together six higher education institutions from Europe and Southeast Asia: the University of Alicante, University of West Attica in Greece, Xavier University in the Philippines, University of the Cordilleras, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Universiti Utara Malaysia.

Among UC’s Government Agency Partners who were present during the launching were DOST – CAR led by RD Dr. Nancy A. Bantog and the Office of Civil Defense CAR headed by RD Mr. Albert A. Mogol.

As a DIGIHAZ consortium member, UC is among the four Asian institutions selected to offer specialized doctoral program.

Faculty members and staff of the University of the Cordilleras College of Law conducted its Bar Operations on September 6, 2026, the first day of the 2026 Philippine Bar Examinations.

Designed to help examinees remain focused and composed throughout the rigorous examination period, the Bar Operations provided food packs and examination kits to the examinees. These provisions served as a gesture of encouragement for the aspiring lawyers as they faced one of the most significant milestones in their professional journey.

The event was organized by the UC College Of Law and UC Barristers Club. The examinations will continue September 9 and 13, 2026.
