BPSU
On June 18, 2026, the BPSU College of Medicine marked a significant milestone in advancing medical education in the province as it successfully held its Opening Ceremonies and Orientation Program at the COAS Amphitheatre, BPSU Main Campus. The event formally welcomed the College's pioneering batch of 28 medical students, together with their parents and guardians, faculty members, and university officials, celebrating the start of a transformative academic journey dedicated to excellence, service, and the development of compassionate future physicians.
Designed to equip students and their families with a clear understanding of the medical journey ahead, the orientation featured discussions on the Doctor of Medicine curriculum, academic policies, and the competencies expected throughout the program. The event also introduced the College's faculty members, composed of esteemed physicians and medical educators from leading healthcare institutions. In his message, College of Medicine Dean Dr. Red Mendoza assured students and parents of the University's support, emphasizing that while the program is demanding and transformative, it is designed to develop compassionate and service-oriented healthcare professionals guided by excellence, integrity, and empathy.
The program encouraged meaningful interaction through a question-and-answer session that addressed students' and parents' inquiries on academic expectations and clinical training opportunities, followed by team-building activities that fostered camaraderie and collaboration among the pioneering batch. As part of the orientation, participants also toured the BPSU campus and visited Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), the College's partner training institution, where they were warmly welcomed by BGHMC Medical Center Chief II Dr. Glory V. Baltazar and given an overview of the hospital's clinical wards and facilities, providing an early glimpse into the healthcare environment they will soon serve.
The event was further strengthened by the support of University officials led by University President Dr. Ruby B. Santos-Matibag, who delivered a virtual message of encouragement, congratulating the pioneering batch and inspiring them to pursue their medical journey with dedication, resilience, and a commitment to service. Also present were Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jaime M. Forbes, who reaffirmed BPSU's commitment to providing a supportive environment for the academic and professional growth of future physicians. The program concluded on a note of optimism and shared commitment to shaping compassionate and competent medical professionals.
