IN PHOTOS | GAD-CDC Parent’s Orientation

The CLSU-GAD Child Development Center (GAD-CDC), successfully conducted Parents’ Orientation on June 10, 2026, at the CLSU Multipurpose Gym, attended by 122 parents and guardians in support to the education and development of their children.

The orientation aims to inform parents and guardians about the school curriculum, policies and guidelines, planned activities for the entire school year, and other important matters concerning their child's education.

Ms. Loreta P. Sugue, center assistant of GAD-CDC, delivered the opening remarks. In her message, she warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of active parental involvement in achieving the goals of the center. She also introduced the members of GAD-CDC who will work closely with parents and their children throughout the school year.

Another significant activity conducted was the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) Election, which was spearheaded by the PTA President from the previous school year.

The successful conduct of the GAD-CDC Parents’ Orientation marked a positive start to the school year, fostering collaboration and open communication between the school and the community it serves.

On June 2, 2026, the University Gender and Development Office (UGADO), in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), conducted the second day of the wellness activity titled “Empowered & Unwind: An Interactive Group Dynamics Session for Gender Wellness and Growth” for CLSU faculty and staff.

Faculty and staff from the College of Engineering (CEN) and College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM) attended the morning session, while participants from the College of Home Sciences and Industry (CHSI), College of Business Administration (CBA), and College of Education (CED) joined the afternoon session.

The activity forms part of the University's efforts to support the mental and emotional well-being of its employees as they prepare for the opening of the new semester.

During the sessions, participants took part in group activities and discussions focused on emotional wellness, stress management, and self-awareness, which were still guided and spearheaded by Prof. Ylona Veronica A. Bayod, RPsy, Rpm, LPT. The activities also encouraged participants to reflect on their experiences and identify healthy ways of coping with personal and work-related challenges.

The two-day wellness program brought together faculty and staff from different colleges across the University and provided an opportunity for learning, interaction, and self-reflection through guided activities and discussions.

June 1, 2026. The University Gender and Development Office in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs, conducted the first leg for batch 1 of the wellness activity titled, “Empowered & Unwind: An Interactive Group Dynamics Session for Gender Wellness and Growth” for CLSU faculty and staff, right after the flag raising ceremony today.

The first batch of attendees are the faculty and staff from the College of Science.

This activity aims to address and improve the emotional and mental well-being of the university community as they begin the upcoming semester. Leading the sessions is resource person, Prof. Ylona Veronica A. Bayod, a prominent Registered Psychologist (RPsy), Registered Psychometrician (RPm), and Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) who serves as the Psychology Department Head at Saint Louis University (SLU) in Baguio City.

Expected participants for the first day, morning and afternoon sessions are from the College of Science (COS), College of Fisheries, and College of Agriculture.

They are poised to gain insights in handling emotions and stressors, while learning to maintain a healthy mind-and-body connection.

The participants engaged in various activities designed to encourage self-assessment and self-care.

The wellness sessions will continue tomorrow, catering to the remaining colleges within the University.

Strengthening research through gender-responsive and technology-driven data collection! 📊💻

Last May 20, 2026, the Socio-Economics Research and Data Analytics Center (SERDAC) conducted the training “Empowering Data Collection: Gender and Development Approaches using KOBO Toolbox” at the CLIRDEC Conference Room, Central Luzon State University. The activity was made possible through the support of the University Gender and Development Office (UGADO).

The training equipped faculty, staff, researchers, and representatives from various research centers with practical knowledge and skills on integrating Gender and Development (GAD) principles into data collection and utilizing digital tools for more efficient and reliable research.

Dr. Peachy G. Domingo, GAD Focal Point System Coordinator, shared valuable insights on gender-responsive data collection, emphasizing the importance of s*x-disaggregated data and minimizing gender bias in survey design.

Participants also engaged in a hands-on workshop facilitated by Ms. Zeren Lucky L. Cabanayan, where they learned to design, deploy, and test digital survey instruments using KOBO Toolbox.

Through activities such as survey development, deployment, and peer-testing of digital questionnaires, participants gained practical experience in applying digital technologies to support data-driven research, extension, and development initiatives.

IN THE KNOW - Members of the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) of the University completed the Capacity Enhancement for CODI Members on Handling Sexual Harassment Cases on May 26, 2026 at the OVPAA Conference Room, with Atty. Christopher H. Pobre, Asst. City Prosecutor of San Jose City, as the resource speaker.

The activity aimed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and competencies of CODI members in properly addressing and handling s*xual harassment cases in the University. Participants were equipped with updated legal guidelines, proper investigation procedures, and ethical standards in ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and protection of the rights of all parties involved.

During the training-workshop, Atty. Pobre discussed important laws and policies related to s*xual harassment, including the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313) and workplace protocols in handling cases. He emphasized the vital role of CODI members in maintaining a safe, respectful, and gender-sensitive environment within and outside the University.

The CODI members were asked to do case analyses, employ practical approaches in conducting investigations, and observe legal practices in resolving cases effectively and professionally. The CODI members actively engaged in the sessions, raising relevant concerns and sharing experiences related to workplace issues and grievance handling.

The activity reflects the University’s commitment to promoting gender sensitivity, professionalism, and accountability in the workplace. Through continuous capability-building initiatives, CODI members are expected to become more responsive and competent in handling cases involving s*xual harassment. The successful conduct of the training marked another step toward strengthening workplace protection mechanisms and ensuring safe spaces for all.

: On April 30, 1937, Filipino women won the right of suffrage through a herstoric national plebiscite, with 447,725 (90%) voting “Yes,” surpassing the required 300,000 votes.

To honor this milestone and sustain its democratic spirit, a day was set aside for Filipino women to renew their advocacy and commitment to clean, honest, and free elections and to pursue these efforts with greater zeal. In 1984, Proclamation No. 2346 declared April 30 of every year as Woman Suffrage Day to encourage continued advocacy for electoral integrity.

As we mark the 89th anniversary of this milestone, we are reminded that while women have gained the right to vote, the work toward true gender equality continues—especially in ensuring more women are empowered and represented in decision-making spaces. There can be no full democracy if half of the population remains underrepresented.

To all Filipino voters, especially women: our foremothers fought for and won this right—let us continue to use it responsibly. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲. Let us choose leaders who are guided by competence, integrity, and a strong commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
