The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) College of Veterinary Medicine Student Council participated in Project BUKEL, a leadership development program organized by the MMSU University Student Council and anchored on the theme, “Empowering Visionary Leaders Through Innovation, Integrity, and Unified Governance.”

The activity gathered student leaders from different colleges and units across the university to engage in discussions and activities focused on leadership, collaboration, and ethical governance. The program aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and values necessary to effectively serve their respective organizations and communities.

Throughout the event, attendees took part in sessions that emphasized the importance of innovation, accountability, and unity in student leadership. The initiative also provided opportunities for participants to exchange ideas, build connections, and learn from the experiences of fellow student leaders.

Representatives from the College of Veterinary Medicine Student Council joined the program as part of their commitment to continuous leadership development and active participation in university-wide initiatives. The council expressed its support for programs that promote responsible leadership and strengthen cooperation among student organizations.

Project BUKEL forms part of the University Student Council’s efforts to cultivate competent and service-oriented student leaders who can contribute to the growth and development of the MMSU community.

Yesterday, our Veterinary Medicine students made history as the pioneers of our first White Coat Ceremony. More than a coat, it represents the responsibility to care, the courage to keep learning, and the promise to uphold the values of the veterinary profession with honor and compassion.

Being the first means becoming part of a legacy that future Vet Med students will one day look back on. May this milestone remind you that every lesson, every challenge, and every achievement will shape you into the veterinarians your communities and the animals who depend on you deserve.

The Pinning Ceremony is more than a cherished tradition. It symbolizes your growing commitment to serve with knowledge, compassion, integrity, and excellence as you continue your journey toward becoming veterinarians.

As you move forward, may the 4Ps: Perseverance, Passion, Patience, and Prayer remain at the heart of everything you do. The Mariano Marcos State University – College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) conducted its first white coat ceremony with the theme “WISER in White: Upholding Wisdom, Integrity, Service, Empathy, and Responsibility as Veterinary Professionals” on July 30, 2026 at the MMSU Teatro Ilocandia, Batac City.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the journey of the pioneering batch of the College of Veterinary Medicine as they received and wore their white coats for the first time which signifies their commitment to the profession they have chosen and the responsibilities that come with it. A coat that reminds them of the values they must uphold as future veterinarians: wisdom, integrity, service, empathy, and responsibility.

As said in the ceremony, wear the coat with pride, but wear it with humility. As the junior clinicians embark on a new chapter in their veterinary journey, they are reminded that being a veterinary isn’t only about the knowledge or skills acquired, but also by compassion, respects, and genuine commitment to serving both animals and the communities that depend on them.

These future veterinarians take a step closer to fulfilling their dreams and becoming professionals who will help shape the future of animal healthcare.

As they step into another significant milestone in their journey toward becoming the future Doctors of Veterinary Medicine, the 3rd Batch of the College of Veterinary Medicine, proudly received their pins as a symbol of their unwavering commitment to excellence, compassion, and service. With the pin becoming a reminder of the responsibility they now carry, it will also serve its purpose that will guide them throughout journey.

Living up to their batch name, ”Tandikan”, the students reflect the unique qualities of the bird it represents: Beauty, Grace, Resilience, and Strength. Like the Tandikan, they have showed that they can rise above challenges, show up with courage, and dedicated in pursuing their dreams.

During their oath-taking, officiated by Dr. Arlyn Chokowen, she emphasized the symbolism behind raising the right hand as a gesture that embodies sincerity and accountability, to remind the students to always uphold integrity in both their words and actions.

As the highlight of the ceremony, Guest Speaker, Dr. Donna Mae C. Rosario shared four guiding principles that will serve as their foundation in reaching their goals, the 4Ps: Perseverance, Passion, Patience, and Prayer. These are not just words, they are the values that will lead them through every challenge, every lesson, and every success on their journey.

Today, they received their pins to wear them with pride, honor, and integrity. And soon, in the future, they will carry the title as Doctors of Veterinary Medicine with purpose, compassion, and unwavering dedication.
