[PUBLICATION ALERT]

Asst Prof Jundy Castil has recently published his work on double-effect adsorption refrigeration cycle in the journal Applied Thermal Engineering.

In this study, he experimentally investigated a double-effect adsorption refrigeration cycle with adsorption heat recovery, using distinct adsorbents: FAM Z02 for the high-temperature cycle and silica gel for the low-temperature cycle. The study concludes that the cooling performance of a double-effect refrigeration system is significantly influenced by the interplay between adsorbent mass distribution, cycle timing, and circulating water flow rate.

This article is one of the key outputs of Asst Prof Castil’s PhD research at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) in Tokyo, Japan.

PSME Ormoc-Kananga Chapter Holds Career Guidance Talk at VSU

The VSU Main Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) Ormoc-Kananga Chapter (OKC) in its Career Guidance Campaign held recently at the university.

The program focused on the importance of completing the BS Mechanical Engineering degree, preparing for and passing the licensure examination, and securing sustainable career opportunities. It also highlighted future collaborations between PSME Ormoc-Kananga Chapter and VSU-DME, particularly in providing students with technical exposure through on-the-job training (OJT), technical seminars, and participation in regional conventions.

The PSME OKC delegates included Engr. Ivan Ted Pangilinan, Engr. Carl Daniel P. Kho, along with three student leaders from Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) – Ormoc Campus.

The activity was attended by Engr. Vic Angelo L. Impas, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Jannet Bencure, Dean of the College, together with faculty members and senior BSME students.

The department also extended its gratitude to the PSME-VSU Student Unit, led by Mr. Daniel Joseph N. Sano and its officers, for their efforts in organizing and coordinating the event.
